CHART SPOTLIGHT. The Swedish rock group Kent joins forces with Oprah Winfrey, Howard Stern and Martha Stewart. They’re all part of Sirius Satellite Radio,  a commercial-free alternative with music, sports and news channels.  Only last night, the first radio show Kentlist was aired on the channel.

According to the Swedish evening paper Aftonbladet, Sirius’s executive Scott Greenstein loves Sweden in general, particularly our music. Per Gessle, The Hives singer Howlin’ Pelle as well as the humour duo Filip & Fredrik have all had own shows on the national satellite channel.

Once a month, Kent’s song writing duo Jocke Berg and Martin Sköld will play their favourite music to American listeners.

Kent is one of the most successful groups in Sweden ever. Since the breakthrough in 1995, the group has racked up eight studio albums – the most recent being last year’s En plats i solen. The set sold platinum in Sweden and was certified gold in Finland.

Despite singing in Swedish, Kent did try to break through abroad. The only charting single to date has been “If You Were Here.” The single reached No.158 on the UK singles tally, reaching the Dutch Hot 100. WelcheMusic’s favourite track is the 2002 hit “FF.”
