Eric Saade Faces Strong Competition from Kati Wolf


CHART REFELCTION. Eric Saade might be “Popular” in Sweden, but he needs to watch out for Kati Wolf of Hungary. Check out “What About My Dreams,” via Belgovision.com and you will find Céline Dion’s distant sister. Sounding like a mix between “Alive” and “I Drove All Night,” Wolf has the energy and power to seduce the audience and command the dance floor.

WelcheMusic will keep a close eye on what will happen up until the ESC final in May. Last night, Sweden decided to send Eric Saade off to Duesseldorf but competition will be fierce.

The original version of Wolf’s entry is called “Szerelem, Miért Múlsz,” but the track will be performed in English. According to Eurovision.TV, Wolf made her breakthrough in the local version of X Factor. The songwriters Viktor Rakonczay and Gergő Rácz represented Hungary in the ESC back in 1997 as part of the grup V.I.P.

Eric Saade 3x Winner with Popular

Eric Saade’s “Popular” did not only win the hearts of the jury, he also won the hearts of the Swedish people – twice. We’ve already covered that Eric Saade ousted all competition and vaulted into the top spot of the Swedish singles tally. As the night draws to an end, it’s clear that he was also the favorite when the Swedish viewers cast their votes in the all important Melodifestivalen final.

Media sparked a rivalry between Danny Saucedo and Eric Saade, which was quickly was resolved as the two teenage heartthrobs made out during a photo shoot earlier this week. Despite the two of them denying that they would be fighting over the victory, nevertheless their both No.1 and No.2 in terms of viewers popularity and singles sales.

Born in 1990, Eric Saade grew up in Kattarp outside Helsingborg in southern Sweden. His father is Lebanese and his mother Swedish. Saade got his breakthrough as the Swedish voice of Shane in the Disney series Camp Rock, shown on Disney Channel.

Last year, Eric Saade came third in the Melodifestivalen final with “Manboy,” which was a No.1 hit on the singles chart. He issued the debut album Masquerade last May, which managed to reach No.2 on the album chart. A sophomore album is slated for release later this summer and it will include the two singles “Still Loving It” and the Melodifestivalen winner “Popular.” WelcheMusic will definitely keep close track of the countdown up until the Duesseldorf final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Loreen’s Sweet Revenge


CHART SPOTLIGHT. Loreen failed to qualify for the Melodifestivalen final tonight, but the ex-Idol contestant got her sweet revenge earlier this week. Her “My Heart Is Refusing Me” crashes into No.9 on the Swedish singles tally.

Only finalists Eric Saade and Danny Saucedo chart higher. This means that Loreen beats finalists such as Linda Bengtzing, The Moniker and Sara Vargas. Loreen also manages to oust competition from Love Generation, whose “Dance Alone” enters at No.26 and Jenny Silvers’ ABB homage “Something in Your Eyes,” which bows at No.59.

Will Alexis Jordan Shout Her Way to the Top?

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Included on Alexis Jordan’s eponymous debut album, “Shout Shout” should be in line for becoming a future single. Based on the Tears For Fears hit “Shout.” The original version peaked at No.4 in the UK and topped the Billboard Hot 100.

The new version is produced by the successful Stargate, who more or less produced the whole album. In February, Alexis Jordan charted in the UK with “Good Girl” and no next single has been announced. WelcheMusic hopes that “Shout Shout” is strongly considered. Jordan’s debut album has charted in the UK, Scotland and Ireland.

Her biggest hit to date is “Happiness,” the debut single from June last year. That song was built on Deadmau5’s “Brazil (2nd Edit).” Jordan signed a record deal with Jay-Z’s record label StarRoc/Roc Nation further to being eliminated from America’s Got Talent in 2006. So far, Alexis Jordan is yet to chart in Sweden with any material.
