True Blood Premieres This Sunday

CHART REFLECTION. Safe to say, you won’t get any True Blood spoilers via WelcheMusic. One thing you can be sure of is that Jace Everett will return to the new season of the series premiering on HBO this Sunday at 8pm. A True Blood cast starring Evan Rachel Wood, Anna Paquin and the Swedish hunk Alexander Skarsgård (yes, we’re so proud of him in this country!), the hit show has grown to become one of the most popular series around.

Jace Everett actually issued “Bad Things” back in 2005 and nada happened. Upon the re-release, the track made it to No.2 in Norway (!) and found its way to the singles tally (albeit a meager No.30 position). We love it anyways and also embrace the rumours that there will be witches in the new season. No spoilers, well we blame it on our friends at Nola.com who writes more about the upcoming premiere.

Michael Jackson’s Death Marks 2 Year Anniversary

CHART REWIND. Today marks the two-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. WelcheMusic remembers the singer’s posthumous career. Back in November 2010, the Michael album was released via Sony. To date, three singles have been issued to promote the album. The most successful to date is the collaboration with Akon – “Hold My Hand” spent four weeks in the top ten in Sweden, finally peaking at No.8. The album includes guest performances from 50 Cent, Lenny Kravitz and Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl.

“Breaking News” Promoted Official Web-site

The song “Breaking News” was never released as  a single, but promoted the set via Michael Jackson’s official web-site. The set did peak at No.1 in various territories (e.g. Sweden and Germany), while reaching No.3 in the US.

You can have a look at the TMZ’s timeline from the moment they found something was terribly wrong with Michael. Still a legend, Michael Jackson is so far the only artist who has collected five Hot 100 No.1s from a single album. Bad includes “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” the title track, “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man in the Mirror” and “Dirty Diana.”

Katy Perry Closing in on Record

According to Billboard, Katy Perry is closing in on tying that record! Her latest album Teenage Dream has already yielded the No.1 hits “California Gurls,” the title cut, “Firework” and “E.T.” Now she’s set to claim the top spot with “Last Friday Night.”

Will JLS Score a No.1 with Dev & RedOne?

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Will JLS score their fifth number one with “She Makes Me Wanna”?  Featuring the US singer Dev, the track is set to be released on June 25 and is co-written and produced by Moe Faisal and Swedish RedOne. The 21-year old’s song “Booty Bounce” was sampled on Far East Movement’s “Like a G6.”

2009 Breakthrough

JLS got their breakthrough back in 2009 with “Beat Again,” a No.1 hit. It was quickly followed by the second chart-topper “Everybody in Love” which was lifted off the eponymous debut album. The third hit “One Shot” peaked at No.6, and was quickly followed by the two No.1s “The Club Is Alive” and  “Love You More.” To date, the group has released two albums – the second one being Outta This World. The latter also produced the No.8 hit “Eyes Wide Shut” featuring Tinie Tempah. JLS was the runner-ups to Alexandra Burke on X-Factor in 2008.

New arena/documentary

According to The Hype Factor, a new arena/documentary movie has premiered named JLS Eyes Wide Open 3D.  Tickets have already sold out, but more screens to the cinema was added quickly.  The A Song for Europe blog referred the track to typical “RedOne fodder and sounds like Mohombi multiplied by four with the hook of Britney Spears’ ‘Till The World Ends thrown in for good measure.”
