Max Martin Chosen for Zlatan’s Swedish UEFA Euro 2016 Song

Zlatan Ibrahimovic initiated Sweden’s official Euro 2016 song ‘Mitt team’ with Frej Larsson and Joy. Issued on Friday (20th May), the track is written and produced by Max Martin, Shellback and Oscar Holter. It goes neck-to-neck with previous Melodifestivalen presenter Robin Paulsson’s ‘Abzolut.’

Frej Larsson & Joy – Mitt Team

‘Mitt team’ premiered live on the national breakfast TV show TV4 Nyhetsmorgon yesterday morning. The track entered the Spotify streaming tally for Sweden on Friday, racking up 84,095 plays entering at No.48. On yesterday’s chart which was only made available by Kworb.net a few hours ago, the song improved four positions (to No.44). The tally is led by Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling,’ also co-written by Max Martin and Shellback.

Oscar Holter has contributed to the Swedish and Danish Eurovision legs. In 2009, he co-wrote Amy Diamond’s ‘It’s My Life’ in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen. It qualified for Andra chansen, but missed out the grand finale. In 2013, he co-wrote Kate Hall’s ‘I’m Not Alone’ in the Danish Melodi Grand Prix. It didn’t qualify for the final, yet Emmeli de Forest managed to win that year with ‘Only Teardrops.’

WelcheMusic.com will definitely keep track on the tally moving forward, as this song has the potential of reaching the upper reaches in no time.

At No.5 on yesterday’s Spotify streaming tally (SWE), the official UEFA Euro 2016 song ‘This One’s for You’ with David Guetta and Zara Larsson has arrived with a bang. The track bowed at No.8 on the official Swedish singles chart on Friday.

As Dagens Nyheter reports, other songs claim to be Euro 2016 hits albeit non-official. The 7-year old Amadeus de la Motte’s ‘Bäst I Europa’ as well as the Melodifestivalen host Robin Paulsson’s ‘Abzolut’ are other songs fighting for attention.

Robin Paulsson is famous for his interpretations of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and is also from the same region as the football player. Hosting his own talk show Robins on Swedish public service, he was the presenter of Melodifestivalen a few years back. ‘Abzolut’ is written and produced together with Anderz Wrethow of Samir & Viktor, Hasse Andersson and Arash fame.

How Justin Timberlake Ended up in Eurovision

Justin Timberlake certainly made an impact in Saturday’s Eurovision. According to Swedish news daily Expressen, the singer will stay in Sweden for 30 days. Timberlake spent his Monday at Max Martin’s, who enjoyed his 22nd Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling.’ His manager Johnny Wright explains why Justin Timberlake chose to appear in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop the Feeling

Max Martin and Shellback co-wrote the global No.1with Justin Timberlake. “We love Sweden. During the *NSYNC days, our hits were recorded there,” has Johnny Wright previously stated. It comes as no surprise that Timberlake is picky of where he appears for promotion.

We brainstormed and realized that the Eurovision is one of the world’s greatest shows.

“Justin is a global, international artist. He understands the various platforms around the world. Justin is very picky about what TV shows he appears in. But Eurovision is all about new music. We sent the idea to them. They loved it. We looked for opportunities around the world. Justin is doing promotion at the moment. We brainstormed and realized that the Eurovision is one of the world’s greatest shows. It was a challenge for us since they never had an artist appear on the show that doesn’t compete. But further to our discussion, everything was sorted out,” says Johnny Wright about the guest appearance.

WelcheMusic.com has covered the Eurovision in a series of posts. Yesterday, Frans bowed on the UK singles chart at No.47. And we’ve also covered Dami Im and Sergey Lazarov.

Frans bows on the UK singles chart

Congratulations to Frans who bows on the UK singles chart this week at No.47 with ‘If I Were Sorry.’ The Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entry is the second highest [ESC] entry this year only beaten by the UK’s own Joe & Jake. The duo’s ‘You’re Not Alone’ bows at No.40. Produced by Matt Schwartz, who has previously worked on material with Kylie Minogue (‘Timebomb’) and Cheryl (‘Only Human’).

Last year’s winner Måns Zelmerlöw managed to place ‘Heroes’ just outside the UK top ten (it peaked at No.11). Previous winner Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ made it all the way to No.3 back in 2012. Jamala’s ‘1944’ didn’t make the chart at all, neither did Nicky Byrne (‘Sunlight’ has reached No.68 in Ireland).

The third entry from the ESC comes in the shape of Dami Im, whose ‘The Sound of Silence’ bows at No.81. We will definitely be on the lookout for the Swedish singles tally which will bow on Friday.

Spotify streaming figures

As you probably know by now, I’m paying close attention to the Spotify streaming figures. As Eurovision slowly drifts away, there’s a slight drop in entries across the territories. On the Spotify global tally Frans drops 64-75 with ‘If I Were Sorry,’ moving 4-9 in Sweden.

Dami Im falls back 140-162 with ‘The Sound of Silence.’ She drops on all tallies, but in native Australia where she rebounds to reach a new peak of No.60. Even in Sweden, Dami Im seems to have struck a bit of unluck a as the track falls out of the top ten landing just outside a No.11.

In native France, Amir falls 30-34 with ‘J’ai cherché.’ In line with Dami Im’s success, Amir has greater success in Sweden where his entry reached No.27 on Sunday. It, however, fell to No.38 on the chart dated May 16th. The highest peak is Lithuania, which placed Amir at No.15 two days ago.

Sergey Lazarev also moves in the wrong direction on most tallies. ‘You Are the One’ reached No.17 in Sweden on Sunday, falling back to No.23 yesterday.

The only one to truly (still) benefit from the Eurovision Song Contest is the guest act Justin Timberlake who storms the pole positions in both the UK and the US. The Trolls soundtrack cut moves 6-4 on the Spotify global tally, beaten by Drake, Calvin Harris and Desiigner.

Dami Im Breaks Spotify’s Global Tally

The verdict is out Dami Im’s ‘The Sound of Silence.’ Finally, the Spotify streaming figures from yesterday is out. As reported yesterday, Dami Im has enjoyed worldwide success. Yet, it’s not until today we can see the full impact of her amazing performance as streaming figures from yesterday is available. In other words, the day after her performance.

It’s definitely clear that Sweden loved this song! The track surges to a new peak, finally cracking the top ten. Frans moves 9-5 with ‘If I Were Sorry,’ while Justin Timberlake’s performance of the Trolls soundtrack cut storms to No.1 with 276,004 streams.

Dami Im, reaches a new peak in Australia (No.73) adding new chart territories such has Switzerland, Estonia and Denmark. For the first time, ‘Sound of Silence’ is a global Spotify streaming hit bowing at No.140. It’s still behind Frans (No.64) on the global tally.
