Kanye West+Justin Bieber=True?

CHART REFLECTION. It actually sounds too good to be true. Kanye West is rumored to show up as a producer on Justin Bieber’s upcoming album. According to Consequence of Sound, Bieber’s manager confirmed that West will contribute on several tracks on the upcoming album. Great news spread fast, and the story was just run by Billboard.  Last August, Kanye West remixed the Justin Bieber track “Runaway Love.”

Justin Bieber’s album My World 2.0 was the fourth biggest selling album in the United States last year. His biggest Stateside hit to date is “Baby” featuring rapper Ludacris. It was also his biggest hit in the UK, reaching No.3.  WelcheMusic will definitely follow this story while the rest of the world engage in Bieber’s relationship with Selena Gomez.

Katrina Kaif Expected to Become the Latest Bollywood Star

CHART REFLECTION. The British actress Katrina Kaif was born in Finchley and her Bollywood breakthrough is compared to that of Keira Knightley’s Hollywood breakthrough in Pirates of the Caribbean. According to a recent article in The Guardian, Katrina Kaif’s new film Tees Mar Khan is predicted to become one of the biggest Bollywood hits of the year.

In the movie, Kaif is playing a woman whose boyfriend plans to steal antiques from a moving train. Expect the 26-year old actress to do some heavy belly dancing, performing the song “Sheila Ki Jawaani” (Sheila’s Blossoming Womanhood). The track has grown to become the most downloaded track in India. A surefire indicator of a film’s success as the movies relies heavily on the songs in Bollywood films.

Glee Cast Never Stops Believing

CHART REFLECTION. The Glee Cast has produced more singles in a year, than most groups do during their whole career. Most recently,  “Good Vibrations” – the Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch hit – charted. According to the most recent last.FM statistics , the Glee Cast’s most popular hit is the cover of Journey’s 1981 hit “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Included on the first volume of Glee: The Music, the track peaked at No.2 last year, due to a Facebook campaign. UK students promoted the track with success, finally propelling it to No.6.

“My Life Would Suck Without You,” Kelly Clarkson’s chart-topper, was the second most popular track within a six-months period. This was followed by another version of “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade.” The latter track was performed by Lea Michele in the 2009 fall finale “Sectionals.” The original version was included in the 1964 musical Funny Girl. Another musical song is amongst the most popular Glee songs. “Defying Gravity” is No.5 on the six-months chart – it was originally featured in the musical Wicked.

When Can We Expect to Hear Back from Cheryl?

CHART REFLECTION. The team at WelcheMusic is thrilled that more than 10,000 visitors have read the blog post on Cheryl Cole’s visit to Skavlan. The visit fueled sales of Cole’s debut hit “Fight for this Love,” a No.2 hit in Sweden which spends its 17th week on the chart this week.

Originally issued in October 2009, Cheryl Cole’s debut set 3 Words only managed to survive two weeks on the Swedish album tally, peaking at a disappointing No.42 position. So far, the album is certified 2x platinum in the UK and Ireland peaking at No.1 and No.2 respectively.

The title track, “3 Words,” has been issued in select markets reaching platinum sales in Australia. The track was co-written and produced by Black Eyed Peas’ member will.i.am. “Parachute” was issued this March as the third single off the set, and has so far reached the top five in the UK and Ireland and the question is if a fourth track will be lifted from the album.

You might recall that the Taio Cruz track “Break Your Heart,” was originally written for Cheryl Cole as one of two tracks exclusively submitted for the 3 Words album. A Polydor label boss deemed it too similar to “Heartbreaker,” which led Cruz to record it himself resulting in a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper.

WelcheMusic’s looking forward to hearing more from Cheryl Cole and maybe, just maybe that other Cruz track will make the singles chart. In that case, “Stand Up” will be single number four.

Update: “Fight for This Love” logged a total of 23 weeks on the Swedish single tally, finally dropping off the chart in July 2010. So far, this is the only Swedish singles chart entry to date from Cheryl Cole.
