DNA Songs Is Dami Im’s Secret Sauce

Dami Im was many a favorite as we were mesmerized by her performance at the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘The Sound of Silence.’ So, you want more of that? Production duo DNA Songs has many hits under their belt – and WelcheMusic has featured several hits in this blog post.

Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci have written hits for Ricky Martin, The Veronicas and The Saturdays through the years. I’m personally excited about Delta Goodrem – the biggest Australian female artist! She’s even bigger than Kylie Minogue in her home country.

The X Factor Breakthrough

In October 2013, Dami Im first worked with DNA Songs, when the duo penned and produced ‘Alive.’ The track was the first single off her eponymous sophomore set, eventually topping the ARIA singles chart. It went on to sell more than 70,000 copies. ‘Alive’ peaked at No.49 on Australia’s Spotify streaming chart. Dami Im had already won the fifth season of The X Factor Australia.

The Frans Effect on Spotify

The singer was a surefire bet for winning last night’s Eurovision Song Contest, but was beaten by Ukraine and Russia. Signed on Sony, ‘The Sound of Silence’ is also available in a couple of remixes (not on Spotify Sweden though).

Ace of Base Mastermind John Ballard behind Sergey Lazarev Entry

Ace of Base Mastermind John Ballard behind Sergey Lazarev Entry

Sergey Lazarev’s ‘You Are the Only One’ is one of the hotly anticipated winners of tomorrow’s Eurovision Song Contest final at the Stockholm Globe arena. An instant pop hit, few knows that there’s a genius mastermind behind the track.

Collaborated with Max Martin

The Gothenburg-based songwriter and producer John Ballard has written many hits. In 1995, he co-wrote Ace of Base’s ‘Beautiful Life’ (off the album The Bridge). The hit single was produced by none others than Max Martin, Denniz Pop and Jonas Berggren.

A Scot, John Ballard issued several albums and singles under his own name. He also competed in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen twice. In 1983, he sang a duet with Ann-Louise Hanson called ‘Bara en enda gång’ (Only once) and in 1984 he competed with ‘Rendez-vous.’ The former peaked at No.5, while the latter was No.3 in the Swedish contest.

In 1995, he contributed on Ace of Base’s The Bridge and Flowers albums with tracks such as ‘Perfect World’ and ‘Don’t Go Away.’ In 2013, he wrote the lyrics for ‘Hold Me’ with Farid Mammadov from Azerbaijan. It eventually came second in that year’s Eurovision. A year later, John Ballard came 7th with Russia’s entry ‘Shine’ with Tolmachevy Sisters.

More facts about Sergey Lazarev

Will ‘You Are the Only One’ finally put him on the list of winning song-writers of the Eurovision? We’ll find out tomorrow. In such case, he will share the honors with fellow song-writers Filipp Kirkorov, Dimitris Kontopoulos and Ralph Charlie.

Some fun facts about Sergey Lazarev is that he contributed with the voices of cartoons in movies such as Shrek the Third, High School Musical and Alpha and Omega.

As of 13th May, ‘You Are the Only One’ has been played 858,685 times on Spotify easily becoming Lazarev’s biggest hit on the network.

Frans’ If I Were Sorry Dominates Swedish Spotify Chart

Frans If I Were Sorry
Frans has the most popular song on Spotify.

Frans Jeppsson Wall dominates the Swedish Spotify chart with ‘If I Were Sorry.’ It qualified for the Melodifestivalen final on Saturday and proved a welcome comeback. As a 7-year old, Frans sang a celebratory song for Zlatan, which rendered him a Swedish hit.

“The song is a twisted love story on the theme that you have gotten over somebody. It’s up to the person who listens to it to interpret it with his or her own experience. Calm tempo, you’ll eventually find about the genre,” Frans said to SVT.se ahead of the competition.

‘If I Were Sorry’ is co-written by Frans, Oscar Fogelström, Michael Saxell and Fredrik Andersson.

Currently, Robin Bengtsson’s ‘Constellation Prize’ is climbing to No.4 on the Spotify chart, in a top ten chart which is dominated by Melodifestivalen entries. Molly Sandén’s ‘Youniverse’ is No.3, while Samir & Viktor, Oscar Zia, Panetoz and Lisa Ajax are currently in the top ten.
