So Is J-Lo Leaving Idol?

CHART REFLECTION. Imagine the past week at the Lopez-Anthony house. First there was the accidental nip slip on German television, when J-Lo was in Europe to promote her latest Love? album. Some say she might not return to American Idol next season. Why, you might ask. According to celeb mag In Touch, it’s Marc Anthony urging his wife “to spend more time with him and their children.” Then there’s the rumor saying that $12m isn’t enough compensation to sit at the judge’s table alongside Steven Tyler.

WelcheMusic closely monitors the career of Jennifer Lopez and posed the question if she would ever return to her former glory this March. It turned out to be more than true as she hasn’t been this hot in ages. Currently charting with “I’m Into You,” she does seem to have a bit of a challenge coping without Pitbull. While “On the Floor” managed to climb the top three, the former track peaked at No.72 on the Hot 100. Co-written by Taio Cruz, Lil Wayne and the Norwegian duo StarGate, this is certainly one of the best r’n’b tracks of the year.

We’re certainly looking forward to the next single and hope that Jennifer Lopez indeed returns to American Idol for another season.

Can Lady Gaga’s Producer Revive Jennifer Lopez

The Swedish producer RedOne will help Jennifer Lopez with new material. She’s in dire need as WelcheMusic pointed out in the earlier blogpost “Will Jennifer Lopez Return to Her Former Glory?” RedOne has produced a majority of Lady Gaga’s hits, including “Just Dance” and “Bad Romance.” According to Expressen, “[Jennifer’s] very positive and content. She knows what she wants.” Jennifer Lopez is currently one of the judges on American Idol. RedOne is launching Swedish Mohombi in the States. His “Bumby Ride” has become a pan-European hit and will promoted in the US.

So far, Jennifer Lopez has produced seven studio albums. The last single was “Louboutins” in 2009, which peaked at No.1 on the US dance chart. The singer debuted in 1999 with “If You Had My Love” – a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, which peaked at No.4 in the UK.

There’s a Narnia for Everyone

WelcheMusic already reported that Joe McElderry has recorded two songs for the new Narnia movie. “Someone Wake Me Up” was issued today, and the single also included his version of “There’s a Place for Us.” Co-written by previous American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, the artists performs the US version of the song. In addition, there will be local versions for different markets:

  • UK: Joe McElderry
  • Russia/Ukraina: Sergey Lazarev
  • Australia: Stan Walker
  • Italy: Sonohra
  • Germany: Victoria S
  • India: Sreeram Chandra
  • Holland: Sander de Buisonje
  • Sweden: EMD

Swedish EMD is one of the most successful local boy bands with band members originating from the local Idol franchise. This December, the group issues the album “Rewind” with acoustic cover versions of 90s hits. As Danny Saucedo will focus on his solo career and Mattias Andréasson got a child, the group will be on hold for awhile. Left is third band member Erik Segerstedt who reportedly will embark on an alternative career as a compère, according to evening paper Aftonbladet.
