Robyn & Röyksopp Do It Again

#ChartTalk #Digilistan Congratulations to Robyn and Röyksopp who rise 4-1 on this week’s Swedish digital download chart Digilistan with ’Do It Again.’ It’s been four years since she managed to place her first No.1 on Digilistan. ‘Dancing on My Own’ is Robyn’s sole chart-topper out of 27 entries.

Last week’s No.1 The Common Linnets drops to No.21 with ‘Calm After the Storm.’ Last week’s runner-up – Conchita Wurst’s ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’ – also drops like a stone, falling 2-19. It seems as if the Eurovision Song Contest finally’s fading off.

John Legend’s ‘All of Me,’ regains 5-2, followed by Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ at No.3.  The talent show winner Jon Henrik Fjällgren’s ‘Daniel’s Joik’ is the highest new entry at No.5, while Robyn & Röyksopp place their second entry at No.7 with ‘Sayit.’

Exactly a year ago, last year’s Eurovision winner Emmelie De Forest’s ‘Only Teardrops’ topped the tally followed by Margaret Berger’s ‘I Feed You My Love,’ another ESC entry. Daft Punk feat. Pharrrell Williams was held the bronze position. The highest new entry then was Iida’s Life Will Kill You at No.7.

Will Ville Eetvartti’s Lasikaupunki Represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku?

Look out for Ville Eetvartti, whose ‘Lasikaupunki’ could end up as the Finnish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 to be held in Azerbaijani Baku. No stranger to fame, Ville Eetvartti rose to fame as one of the singers in the TV show ‘Clash of the Choirs.’ Singing Kings of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody,’ it’s no surprise that ‘Lasikaupunki’ sounds familiar to Coldplay.

Ville Eetvartti’s entry  is one of 40 to qualify from a round of demos evaluated by the Finnish broadcaster YLE. A total of 540 tracks were submitted between August and September last year. The grand finale is scheduled in February in the Helsinki Ice Hall and will be hosted by Anne Lainto and Joona Kortesmäki.

The move to an open audition was announced last summer, opening the possibility for anyone to submit a song for qualification. Paradise Oskar represented Finland in the last final ending up as No.21 out of 25 contestants. Lordi managed to oust all competition when the group won the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah.’ A track that even climbed the UK singles chart, peaking at No.25. Lordi also placed the follow-up single ‘Who’s Your Daddy?’ at top of the native singles chart.

You can still vote for Ville Eetvartti via YLE’s home page or show your support by joining his Facebook page.

Stay Awake Tonight to See Example’s Brand New Video

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Earlier today, English singer and rapper Example that his latest video “Stay Awake” will premiere tonight at Channel 4 at half past midnight. It will go to YouTube straight after, promoting the August 28 release.

“Change the Way You Kiss Me” Set the Example

WelcheMusic covered the release of “Change the Way You Kiss Me” which reached the biggest weekly sales to date upon its release this June. Expect the follow-up single to deliver in the same neighborhood as it has HIT written all over it. Similar to Calvin Harris, whose collaboration with Kelis rendered him a No.1 hit recently, “Stay Awake” is poppy, melodic and dance friendly.

Held Coldplay off the Top Spot

As Music News points out, Example managed to beat the rock giants Coldplay to the top and selling in excess of 20K copies.  The new single is produced by the dubstep wizards Nero and was written after waking up at Ibiza Rocks and seeing hundreds of kids still going from the night before. Example says “it’s about a messed up generation who spend all their money on partying and questioning whether or not it’s right. We spend all our money to stay awake the longest.”

Playing in the Shadows Hosts Top Names

The track will be included on the album Playing in the Shadows which is slated for a September 5th release in the UK. Example has worked with names such as Chase & Status, Nero, Michael Woods, Skream and Faithless on the new album.
