Ne-Yo takes the lead in the UK

Ne-Yo claims his third chart-topper in the UK as “Beautiful Monster” bows on today’s singles chart. He has previously topped the tally with “Closer” and “So Sick.” The singer debuted back in 2006 and has since worked closely with the Norwegian production duo Stargate. “Beautiful Monster” is taken from his upcoming album Libra Scale, slated for release this October. The single flopped in the US, peaking at No.53 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This means that the boy band The Wanted only got a sole week at No.1 with “All Time Low,” which falls to No.5.  Ne-Yo is trailed by Flo Rida/David Guetta who moves 5-2. The only other new entry on the top ten is much hyped Eliza Doolittle who enters the No.8 positon with “Pack Up.”

The Canadian Indian Rock band Arcade Fire bows atop the album chart with The Suburbs. So far, the album has charted in Australia as well (at No.6). This means that Eminem’s Recovery loses the top position. Lady Gaga’s The Fame adds a 82nd week on the chart maintaining the No.6 position.

Robyn Solo Dance Still Atop the Swedish Chart

Robyn holds forte on the Swedish singles chart for a second week running with “Dancing on My Own.” The track has spent nine weeks on the chart and removed Ola from pole position last week. Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP holds at No.2, trailed by Shakira who moves 5-3 with her Soccer World Cup Song. Eminem/Rihanna reach a new peak as “Love the Way You Lie” climbs to No.4. The chart is slow, apart from the fact that Ola quickly loses ground on the chart. His “Overdrive” was No.1 two weeks ago, fell to No.9 last week and ends up at No.54 this week.

Usher’s “DJ Got Us Falling in Love” is the highest new entry at No.54, which also welcomes new entries from Katy Perry (No.33), The Lab Wizard (No.42) and Alexandra Burke (No.57).

Maya Returns to the No.1 Spot in Sweden with “Stereo Love”

Edward Maya returns to the No.1 spot on the Swedish singles chart with “Stereo Love,” while last week’s chart-topper – Rebound’s “Hurricane” – falls 1-8. Lady Gaga and Beyoncé rebound 5-2 with “Telephone,” with the help of Gaga’s Stockholm visit last week. Her “Alejandro” takes a 39-27 climb in its third week.

The highest new-comer comes from Eminem, whose “Not Afraid” immediately reached the top spot on the Hot 100 this week. This is a rare feet in the US, where only 15 other acts managed this through history.

The only other new-comers this week come from Joshua Rain’s “I’d Rather Be with You” and Robyn’s “Dancehall Queen.” Stromae’s “Alors on danse,” previously mentioned on this blog cracks the top twenty, moving 45-19.

Timoteij’s Längtan was knocked off the top spot after a sole week as AC/DC is the biggest seller this week with Iron Man 2. Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster moves 8-3. Anna von Hauswolff’s Singing from the Grave is the highest new-comer at No.5, besting Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment at No.8. Lambert earns the No.8 position on the singles chart as well with “Whataya Want from Me.”

Ke$ha Claims the Top Spot in the States

The Rage Against the Machine Facebook campaign didn’t reach the States, which meant that Ke$ha could claim the Billboard Hot 100 top spot without controversy. This means that Jay-Z and Alicia Keys moves 1-2 this week with “Empire State of Mind.”

Last week, Ke$ha only marginally beat Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” As “TiK ToK” now reigns atop, this means that she’s the first female artist to reach the top with a debut single since Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance.”  To be totally fair, Ke$ha did already top the charts earlier this year, but her appearance on Flo Rida’s “Right Round” was non-credited. Expect her album Animal to reach stores in January 2010.

As WelcheMusic reported a few days back, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the acoustic version of “Empire State of Mind” would reach the charts. As it turns out, this version does debut at No.55. The highest new entry comes from Eminem, whose “Hell Breaks Loose” comes in at No.29. It features Dr. Dre and was added to the release of Relapse:Refill, a re-issue with bonus tracks. It’s worth mentioning that Usher enters at No.94 with “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home).” It’s the second track lifted from the forthcoming album Raymond vs. Raymond. The first one, “Papers,” peaked at a disappointing No.31. Usher hasn’t reached the upper reaches since “Love in this Club” topped the charts in the beginning of 2008. Maybe he should record a duet it with Alicia Keys – remember “My Boo” in 2004…
