Jennifer Lopez Just Did It

CHART SPOTLIGHT. This January, WelcheMusic posed the question ‘Would RedOne be able to reinvigorate Jennifer Lopez career?’A strenuous way back to the charts have been crowned with no less than two hits from the new album. “On the Floor” became a global crossover hit, yet “I’m Into You” is still to catch on in the US. To date, the track has only reached No.72 while it has peaked at No.9 in the UK.

Released this April, “I’m Into You” features Lil Wayne on a track co-written by Taio Cruz, Wayne and StarGate. Expect more tracks to be lifted from the album, not least the RedOne track “Papi.” While recent coverage has focused on J.Lo’s honeymoon tape which has triggered a bidding war, we will keep a close eye on the singer’s upcoming musical ventures.

Where on Earth Did Ja Rule Go?

CHART REFLECTION. So what happened to Ja Rule? In the early 2000s, this rapper ruled the charts but he has been somewhat silence lately. A quick online search revealed that he serves a 2-year old prison sentence, which explains it all.

Fat Joe Hit

WelcheMusic’s absolute favorite is the 2002 hit “What’s Luv,” where Ja Rule was featured as a guest artist on Fat Joe’s hit alongside Ashanti. Peaking at No.2 in the US, this was actually Ashanti’s fault as she claimed the top spot with “Foolish.” “What’s Luv” is built on 2Pac’s “Niggaz Nature” and interpolated the classic Tina Turner hit “What’s Love Got to Do with It.”

Hit No.1 with J.Lo

Née Jeffrey Atkins in 1976, this Queens native rose to fame in 1999 when he debuted with “Holla Holla.” His biggest hit to date is the duet with Jennifer Lopez on the Murder Remix  of “I’m Real.” Originally a europoop hit, the track was re-worked into a rap hit with street cred.

Ja Rule actually managed to go all the way to No.1 in the UK with the 2004 hit “Wonderful” which featured R. Kelly and…again Ashanti.

The track is produced by the Dutch producer Afrojack. Already a top five hit in Sweden, the UK is the first country where it shot to No.1.

Jennifer Lopez Tops Swedish Singles Tally as Melodifestivalen Fever Fades

Rihanna beats the original No.7 peak for “S&M” with the remix version featuring Britney Spears. The renewed interest propels the track from 8-3 in its 22nd week. Spears’ own hit “Till the World Ends” vaults 9-4, its best position to date. The single bowed at No.23 five weeks ago, only to fall to No.38 the following week. It broke into the top ten last week and could very well become a lengthy chart hit.

The UK No.1 hit “Party Rock Anthem” by LFMAO breaks into the top ten, climbing 11-6. This week, Snoop Dogg and David Guetta also is new to the top ten with “Sweat.”

Can Lady Gaga’s Producer Revive Jennifer Lopez?

As WelcheMusic previously reported, Romanian vocalist Alexandra Stan is also making progress as “Mr. Saxobeat” vaults 49-14. The highest new entry comes from Lady Gaga’s “Judas,” which bows at No.19. The track also debuted at No.15 in the UK on Sunday.
