Roxette Achieves UK Top 40 Hit and Beats J.Lo

CHART SPOTLIGHT. UK radio programmers have embraced Roxette as “She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio)” achieves Top 40 status in its first week. The new single bows at No.32 on the UK Radio Airplay Chart this week with an audience reach of 20.85m people.

In addition, Roxette bows at No.4 on the Pre-Release chart which count downs the most popular tracks ahead of their commercial release. That chart is topped by The Wanted’s “Gold Forever,” which WelcheMusic predicts will bow atop of the singles chart come Sunday.

The Wanted is followed by Eliza Doolittle’s latest “Mr Medicine” and Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger’s “Don’t Hold Your Breath.” Roxette manages to beat Taylor Swift and even Jennifer Lopez’ “On the Floor.”

This hopefully will bed for a comeback to the singles tally, where Roxette hasn’t been present since 2005. The duo peaked at No.18 in a remix of “Fading Like a Flower” credited Dancing DJ’s vs. Roxette.

Jennifer Lopez Hits the Top 3 with “On the Floor”

CHART SPOTLIGHT. It seems as if Jennifer Lopez needn’t worry about making a comeback. With the help of RedOne and Pitbull, “On the Floor” crashes into No.3 on the Swedish singles tally. The singer made her debut with the No.9 hit “If You Had My Love” back in 1999.

The clever use of Kaoma’s 1989 hit “Lambada” certainly paid off. “On the Floor” becomes her 15th hit on the Swedish tally and is well on its way to become her biggest one ever. It’s so far tied with “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” (2000) and “Ain’t It Funny” (2001) that both peaked at No.3. Jennifer Lopez racked up no less than 12 hits between 1999 and 2002, six of them were top ten hits. In 2005, “Get Right” peaked at No.11 and in 2007 “Do It Well” peaked at No.54.

WelcheMusic covered Jen’s return to the charts in January, when the first snippet of “On the Floor” was released. The track has so far charted in Belgium (No.1), Spain (No.4), Australia (No.10). The help of RedOne has even helped her return to the Billboard Hot 100, where the track debuts at No.9. It’s actually the third biggest selling digital song in the country. The track will be officially released in the UK on March 27 and we will keep a close eye on its chart appearance there.

The 1989 hit “Chorando Se Foi (Lambada)” was the first single off the Kaoma album Worldbeat. The track is actually a cover of Márcia Ferreira’s 1986 hit “Chorando Se Foi” which in its turn was built on Los Kjarkas Bolivian song “Llorando se fue” from 1981. The track became a worldwide hit selling more than 5m copies.

RedOne+Jennifer Lopez=Lambada

CHART SPOTLIGHT. WelcheMusic has closely followed Jennifer Lopez career and recently reported about her collaboration with the Swedish producer RedOne. The question is – will Lopez get the Lady Gaga effect? Well, she got Pitbull anyway.

Her way back to the record aisles has been quite strenuous. There was this mishap at the Grammys when performing the 2009 single “Louboutins,” and then there was…nothing. The new single “On the Floor” borrows heavily from Kaoma’s 1989 hit “Lambada.” Mix this with Edward Maya’s “Stereo Love,” Nightcrawlers’ “Push the Feeling On” and you’ll have the new Jennifer Lopez.

Expect the track to impact in the US next week as “La Vida Lopez” joins American Idol as the new juror. Don’t expect the same level of enthusiasm as fans provided Britney Spears lately. She’s doing just fine – images from the red carpet shows her in Zuhair Murad at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards where she attended with hubby Marc Anthony. Do you remember that they recorded the duet “No me ames” on her debut album On the 6?

Jennifer Lopez’ last big song to reach the US Top 20 was “Get Right” a No.12 hit in 2005 – it even topped the UK singles chart! Will 2011 be the year when Jennifer Lopez returns to the charts?
