Jennifer Lopez Just Did It

CHART SPOTLIGHT. This January, WelcheMusic posed the question ‘Would RedOne be able to reinvigorate Jennifer Lopez career?’A strenuous way back to the charts have been crowned with no less than two hits from the new album. “On the Floor” became a global crossover hit, yet “I’m Into You” is still to catch on in the US. To date, the track has only reached No.72 while it has peaked at No.9 in the UK.

Released this April, “I’m Into You” features Lil Wayne on a track co-written by Taio Cruz, Wayne and StarGate. Expect more tracks to be lifted from the album, not least the RedOne track “Papi.” While recent coverage has focused on J.Lo’s honeymoon tape which has triggered a bidding war, we will keep a close eye on the singer’s upcoming musical ventures.

Shakira’s New Album Slated for October Release

Shakira announced her new album “Sale el sol/The Sun Comes Out,” slated for release on October 19th on her blog. The album will include her world-wide hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which recently topped the Swedish single tally. The album will also be preceded by the new single “Loca,” an interpretation of the Dominican artist El Cata’s song “Loca con su tiguere.” Shakira has also collaborated with the UK scene’s biggest grime artist Dizzee Rascal on an English version. This is a surefire way to return to the upper reaches on the UK singles chart. The track was co-produced by The Neptunes, the production duo consisting of Pharrell Williams.

Shakira has not visited the top ten in the UK since the summer of 2009, where “She Wolf” reached No.4. The follow-up “Did It Again” (with Kid Cudie) only managed to climb to No.26, while the Lil Wayne duet “Give It Up to Me” failed to chart at all. “Gypsy” stalled at No.167 and “Waka Waka” peaked at No.21.

Eminem + Haddaway = True

Eminem’s seventh studio album Recovery has claimed the top spot in twelve countries so far, including the UK and the US. The album was preceded by “Not Afraid” in April, while “Love the Way You L ife” tops singles charts around the world right now.

WelcheMusic thinks that “No Love” should be a strong contender for a future single release. Based on Haddaway’s 1993 hit “What Is Love,” the track features Lil Wayne as a guest rapper.
