Five Swedes in the Run for American Grammies

Five Swedes are able to win a Grammy next February. WelcheMusic has already reported on Eminem and Rihanna being nominated for Song of the Year. Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own” is nominated for “Best Dance Recording.” She competes against Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World)” and Lady Gaga’s “Dance in the Dark.” Two years ago, Robyn lost to Chemical Brothers in the “Best Dance/Electronic Album” category.

The Swedish producers RedOne and Max Martin compete in the “Album of the Year” category. RedOne produced Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster, while Martin co-produced Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. The producer and DJ Axwell is nominated for his remix of Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” while the opera singer Ann-Sofie von Otter competes in the Best Classical Vocal Performance category. She has won a Grammy three times before.

Eminem had the most number of nominations – ten – followed by Lady Gaga and Jay-Z with six each. The Grammy will be held in L.A. on Feb.13 2011.

P!nk Returns to the US Top with Swedish Help

P!nk returns to the Billboard Hot 100 throne with the help of Max Martin and Shellback.  “Raise Your Glass” was the first single to be lifted off the greatest hits album, and one of the new tracks. The final track to be released as a single from Funhouse was “Glitter in the Air” which peaked at No.18 this January.

It’s not the first time Shellback and Max Martin elevates P!nk to the throne. The duo contributed with three tracks on the Funhouse album, including the No.1 “So What.” The 25-year old Shellback was born Karl Johan Schuster and reigns from Karlshamn, Sweden. Before becoming a full-time songwriter, Shellback had a background as a metal/hardcore band member (very similar to Max Martin’s background).

This year, Shellback has written hits such as “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” with Usher and Pitbull as well as the brand new Robyn track “Time Machine,” from her third Body Talk installment.

Check out the new blog post on what tracks Karl Johan Schuster contributed on Britney’s upcoming set.
