Will Best Night Follow LMFAO’s Champagne Showers?

CHART SPOTLIGHT. By now, we’re all familiar with the LA based electro hop recording duo LMFAO. Their “Party Rock Anthem” finally ascended to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to topping the tallies in countries such as New Zealand, the UK, Austria, Brazil and Denmark.

The group has already managed to produce a follow up – “Champagne Showers” which features the English singer-songwriter Natalia Kills on guest vocals. Kills issued her debut set Perfectionist on the German market this April – it contains her debut single “Mirrors.”

Rumours say that the third single off LMFAO’s album Sorry for Party Rocking will be “Best Night.” Featuring will.i.am, GoonRock and Eva Simons as guests, the track is bound to hit the charts. Nevertheless, expect “Party Rock Anthem” to last although the summer!

Nicki Minaj Revives The Big Pink’s Dominos

CHART SPOTLIGHT. We absolutely love the new Nicki Minaj single “Girls Fall Like Dominoes.” Based on The Big Pink’s “Dominos,” the track is the sixth single off the rapper’s debut set Pink Friday. Another hit single is in the pipeline – “Where Dem Girls At,” a brand new David Guetta track which features Minaj and Flo Rida.

Hugely successful, the Pink Friday album features guests such as Eminem, Drake, will.iam and Kanye West. Last December WelceMusic reported on “Your Love,” one of the singles which sampled an Annie Lennox hit.

The music blog Digital Spy gave it a 4/5 rating saying that “less surprising is Queen Barbz’s use of hyperbole, sprinkled here over a boombastic beat and juttering synths courtesy of J-J-J-J.R Rotem, who confidently refreshes The Big Pink’s 2009 hit ‘Dominos’ to give it a youthful glean that would make Joan Rivers’s plastic surgeon proud.”

Quick guide to Nicki Minaj singles from Pink Friday, via Wikipedia:

  1. Your Love
  2. Right Thru Me
  3. Roman’s Revenge
  4. Did It On ‘Em
  5. Moment 4 Life
  6. Super Brass
  7. Girls Fall Like Dominoes

Her most popular hit to date according to Last.fm is “Massive Attack,” her first single ever which was not included on her album.

Taio Cruz Is Telling the World that He’s Back

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Monday sees the release of the new Taio Cruz single “Telling the World.” It is lifted off the soundtrack to Rio: The Movie, an American/Brazilian 3D computer animated movie similar to the Ice Age series.

Packed with music, the soundtrack sports musical contributions from Sérgio Mendes, will.i.am, Jamie Foxx and Ester Dean. Cruz released several singles from his Rokstarr album, not least the trans-Atlantic No.1 “Break Your Heart.” His last single “Falling in Love,” did not chart however.

The British singer-songwriter made his debut in 2006 with “I Just Wanna Know.” He has released two studio albums so far. As WelcheMusic previously reported “Break Your Heart” was initially intended for Cheryl Cole.

Black Eyed Peas Can’t Get Enough in Germany

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Following the global success of “The Time (Dirty Bit),” Black Eyed Peas returns to the charts with another single off The Beginning. Produced by will.i.am, DJ Ammo and Rodney Jerkins (who produced “Telephone” w/Gaga-Beyoncé), the track vaults into No.9 on the German singles chart this week. The track has so far peaked at No.38 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Black Eyed Peas is just behind Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3x” which bows at No.8. In a busy week, last week’s newcomer Lena drops 2-7 with “Taken by a Stranger.” Bruno Mars still remains at No.1 with “Grenade,” followed by Adele and Taio Cruz/Kylie Minogue.
