You Me At Six Takes Chiddy to the UK Chart

CHART SPOTLIGHT. The British rock band You Me At Six reached new heights as the new single “Rescue Me” bows at No.21 on the singles tally tonight. The group comes from Surrey and was formed in 2005. The five-piece group got its breakthrough in 2007 when they were nominated in the Best British Newcomer category at the Kerrang! Awards. They lost to Gallows.

“Rescue Me” is the first single to be taken off You Me At Six’ third studio album, yet to be titled. It features Chiddy on vocals, one of the two members of the alternative hip hop band Chiddy Bang.

On Last.FM, “Underdog” is still the most popular track during the last week, ahead of “Stay with Me.” You Me At Six has previously recorded covers of Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed”  as well as Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”

According to the music blog Good Music All Day, the song debuted on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show in early January. A version where the two verses from Chiddy were omitted circulated ahead of the radio release. WelcheMusic will keep you posted on forthcoming news about the group

Blink-182 Tickets, Anyone?

The American pop punk group Blink-182 is back on the road, this time in the UK. Reigning from Poway, California, the band has so far produced five studio albums and 21 singles. The group’s biggest hit was the UK No.2 hit “All the Small Things” back in 2000. It followed their debut hit “What’s My Age Again,” which peaked at No.17 the year before. In the US, the group got its breakthrough with “Dammit (Grow Up)” in 1997. The fourth album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket was the biggest Stateside success selling more than 350,000 copies in its first week upon its release in 2001.

The UK tour sold out in minutes and an extra three dates have been added to the original schedule. Blink-182 hasn’t toured the UK in seven years. The support act will be You Me At Six. Their final album was the eponymous set Blink-182 which peaked at No.22 in the UK back in 2003.  A greatest hits set was issued in 2005.

Blowsight Turns Lady Gaga into Pop Metal Punk

The Swedish group Blowsight has turned Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” into a pure pop metal punk.

Kid Cudi interpolated the “Poker Face” on “Make Her Say” and to date cover versions have been issued by the likes of dance act The Booty Babes and rock group You Me At Six.

Lady Gaga included the “Poker Face”on her debut album The Fame and the song first appeared as a single back in September 2008. North America saw a release in December 2008 and the single wasn’t released in the UK until January 2009. The renewed interest will definitely result in more royalties for songwriters RedOne and Lady Gaga herself.

Blowsight has previously covered Britney Spears’ “Toxic” from 2004.

It’s time for WelcheMusic vol.3 fresh from the oven. Ke$ha storms the charts with the new album and we think that “Take It Off” is a contender for an upcoming single release. Owl City storms the UK singles chart this week with “Fireflies.” Let’s hope that the follow-up single “Vanilla Twilight” can repeat the success. Also included, current hits from Sidney Samson and the Glee Cast’s version of “Don’t Stop Believin’.” True to form, we’ve added bonus tracks. Jay-Z recorded “History” for the More than a Game soundtrack.
