Do You Remember Him?

2009 was definitely the year Jay Sean broke. “Down” was a Billboard Hot 100 No.1, reaching and No.3 on the UK singles chart. Jay Sean is actually British, although the hit features rapper Lil Wayne as a guest. The BBC called him “the most succesful male U.K. urban artist in U.S. chart history.” He’s on his way to repeat this success with the follow-up track “Do You Remember.” It has already reached the top ten in the US, making waves in here now. The track features Sean Paul and Lil Jon. The track will be included on the WelcheMusic vol.2 compilation which will be issued later on.

She Sold 3.2m Albums in the US Alone

By now, many of us already know about Susan Boyle’s astonishing performance in Britain’s Got Talent. Not surprisingly, the album racked up record sales in the UK. But, listen to this. Only Taylor Swift’s Fearless can beat that.  Her breakthrough there came with America’s Got Talent as more than 13m viewers saw her perform The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.” She’s also appeared on Dancing with the Stars as well as X-Factor.

Linda Sundblad in Command of Let’s Dance

First of all, let’s just clear the fact that Strictly Come Dancing is called Let’s Dance in Sweden.  It premiered back in 2006, when former Idol contestant Måns Zelmerlöw won the competition. Let’s Dance is back this Friday on Jan.8 and WelcheMusic is more excited about the new soundtrack than the format itself.
Linda Sundblad debuted in the group Lambretta at 15. The group had hits such as “Bimbo” and “Creep,” Her break as a solo artist came in 2006, with the album Oh My God! with producers such as Max Martin. He also co-wrote the single “To All My Girls,” which was released last autumn.

“Life on Mars” – Like You Never Heard It

Let’s dedicate some space to one of the best tracks ever recorded. “Life on Mars”  was initially included on the David Bowie album Hunky Dory back in 1971. It wasn’t released as a single until 1973, when it reached No.3 on the UK singles chart. In true Spotify style, WelcheMusic has collected the covers of “Life on Mars”. Listen to Brazilian singer Seu Jorge’s version, which was featured in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Barbra Streisand’s cover or Mr. Heidi Klum – Seal.
