Matchbox Twenty Singer Rob Thomas’ Solo Adventure

The American rock vocalist Rob Thomas has released his second solo album Cradlesong, following his succesful career as the singer of Matchbox Twenty. In 2005, his debut album …Something to Be saw the light of day. It includes hits such as “Lonely No More” and “This Is How a Heart Breaks.” The set was produced by Matchbox Twenty producer Matt Serletic. He produced the group’s three albums, not least the hugely succesful debut album Yourself or Someone Like You back in 1996. It was followed by Mad Season in 2000 and More Than You Think You Are in 2002.  A compilation album called Exile on Mainstream was issued in 2007.

Let’s not forget Santana’s incredible success with Supernatural in 1999. In June, “Smooth” was released as a single. It featured Rob Thomas on vocals, and yet again Matt Serletic was the producer. The track became one of the largest hits of the ‘90s.

Rob Thomas’ current hit “Someday” is lifted from his latest solo album Cradlesong and sits at No.2 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart. It was originally released digitally back in September last year, but was issued physically in December 2009. The track has reached No.1 on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs, but failed to reach higher than No.72 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was preceded by the Cradlesongs album tracks “Give Me the Meltdown” and “Her Diamonds.” The album reached No.3 on the Billboard 200 album charts as well as in Australia, where Matchbox Twenty’s enjoyed a phenomenal success.
