Daft Punk Goes Disney with Tron: Legacy


The French electronic music duo Daft Punk returns to the music scene with the soundtrack to the Disney movie Tron: Legacy. Consisting of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, the duo got their breakthrough in 1996 with “Da Funk.” Daft Punk’s biggest hit to date is the 2000 hit “One More Time” which topped the charts in Canada, France and the U.S. Dance chart. It also peaked at No.2 in the UK, making it the biggest hit to date.

The soundtrack album to Tron: Legacy was issued on Dec.6 and has already reached the top of the UK Dance Chart. It is the first film score from Daft Punk. Thomas Bangalter had previously produced the soundtrack to the film Irréversible. In 2007, Kanye West sampled Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” on his UK/US No.1 hit “Stronger.”

Upon returning to the music scene, the soundtrack will be their first release since a live the live album Alive 2007 issued the very same year. A promotional video for the soundtrack cut “Derezzed” has been issued via the official YouTube channel. The song has also been released as an iTunes preorder single. The iTunes release of the album also includes the two bonus tracks “Father and Son” and “Outlands, Pt. II.”
