CHART SPOTLIGHT. According to Billboard, the Korean girl group Girls’ Generation has made an enormous breakthrough in Japan. The group consists of nine members, and their video clips have become a huge hit on YouTube. “Gee” has racked up 30.1m viewers, while “Hoot” amassed 5.9m views.
The group was created in 2007 and became a huge success in native South Korea. They’ve also collaborated with Korean brands such as Samsung and LG. In Sweden, the latter has created their own pop group Love Generation together with producer RedOne. WelcheMusic would really love for Girls’ Generation to collaborate with Nordic producers such as RedOne or Stargate.
Girls’ Generation will release a Japanese-language album this spring and may be targeting Europe later in 2011.
