R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen

In an homage to Leslie Nielsen’s recent passing, WelcheMusic remembers one of the classic moments from the 1988 film The Naked Gun. The scene features Priscilla Presley and Nielsen with Herman’s Hermits performing “I’m Into Something Good” in the background. The track was lifted off the group’s eponymous album and written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. It topped the UK singles chart for two weeks in September in 1964 and was succeded by “Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison. A track that resurfaced following its inclusion in Julia Roberts hit movie.

A solo version performed by the Herman’s Hermits frontman Peter Noone made the adult contemporary chart that year on the back of the movie.

Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson also covered the track for his 2008 Best Buy edition of the album The Lucky Old Sun, featuring Carole King as a guest vocalist.
