‘Barbra Streisand’ Cracks the Swedish Top 10

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Disco duo Duck Sauce finally cracked the top ten in Sweden last week. The track debuted at No.57 in the beginning of November last year and took six weeks to crack the top 20. After hovering around the 20 slot, “Barbra Streisand” took a surprise move from 15-9 last week, retaining that position this week. “Barbra Streisand” has already topped the singles chart in a range of countries including Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland. Consisting of Armand van Helden and A-Trak the track peaked at No.3 in the UK upon its release last October. The professional hockey team Calgary Flames started using the song as its theme song last year but the track has only made it to No.69 in Canada.

“Barbra Streisand” heavily samples Boney M.’s “Gotta Go Home,” which borrows content from German band Nighttrain (1973 hit “Hallo Bimmelbahn”). In order to capitalize on the success, Boney M. released its own version of “Barbra Streisand” at the end of last year – it is yet to chart.
