Coldplay’s Teardrop Bows At No.6


CHART SPOTLIGHT. Lifting elements from Peter Allen’s  1976 song “I Go to Rio,” Coldplay’s latest single “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” bows at No.6 in the UK this week. Earlier this week, it debuted at No.29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and follows the yuletide single “Christmas Light.” The latter only made it to No.13 in the UK while peaking at No.25 in the US and Sweden.

 

Paramore Unleashes Transformers Monster

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Paramore bows just outside the UK top twenty with their latest single “Monster.” Taken off the soundtrack to Transformers: Dark of the Moon, this is the first song which does not feature Josh and Zac Farro. The lead singer Hayley Williams also sang on “Airplanes” with B.O.B. last year. This is the first single since “Playing God” peaked at No.103 in the UK.

Martin Solveig Says Hello to the US


CHART SPOTLIGHT. Originally a 2010 hit, “Hello” initially broke in native France as the first single off Martin Solveig’s fifth album Smash. Featuring the Canadian vocalist Dragonette, the track quickly became one of WelcheMusic favorite dancefloor cuts.

US Traction with the Help of Trident gum

Solveig finally cracks the Hot 100, ascending 54-46 this week. In order to get US mainstream attention, “Hello” was featured in the Trident commercial for the “Vitality” line of gum. On other markets, “Hello” has already been followed by “Ready 2 Go” which features Kele.

“Hello” is also featured on the new cover album with the German rock and roll band the Baseballs. Née, Martin Picandet, the French producer hails from Paris and hosts the weekly radio show C’est la vie via FG DJ Radio.

Alexandra Stan’s “Get Back” Follows Saxobeat


CHART SPOTLIGHT. No sooner has the sound of “Mr. Saxobeat” faded on the dancefloor, than Alexandra Stan returns with the follow-up. Already a Top 20 hit in France, “Get Back (ASAP)” is set to become the second international hit for this Romanian singer. An incredible dancefloor success for Romania who placed Inna and Edward Maya atop the UK dance chart within a year. WelcheMusic covered this in April.

“Get Back (ASAP)” is expected to bow in the UK in August, where “Mr. Saxobeat” remains a top ten hit. The latter has topped the chart in Denmark, peaked at No.2 in Sweden and Norway and reached No.3 in the UK. Alexandra Stan’s debut hit was the 2009 single “Lollipop.”
