New Scouting for Girls Single Out Now

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Back in May, WelcheMusic highlighted that Scouting for Girls will return this summer! And the single “Love How It Hurts” is out now.  An official music video has already been released, which shows how a young geeky boy is falling in love with a pretty girl. As soon they start to become friends a popular boy comes and takes the girl away. Classic love story!

The group has been nominated for both a Brit and Ivor Novello award and was formed back in 2005. To date, Scouting for Girls have sold more than 1.2 million albums and over 1.5 million. Last easter, “This Ain’t a Love Song” peaked at No.1 in the UK.

Hultsfredsfestivalen Welcomes Latest Indie Sensation Foster the People

CHART REFLECTION. The LA indie band Foster the People has slowly grown a fan base across the world. Initially released in 2010, the seductive hit “Pumped Up Kicks” is about to get its breakthrough on our side of the Atlantic. A new WelcheMusic favourite, the single peaked at No.27 in the UK a couple of weeks ago and the group is now heading our way for a tour.

The band manager Mark Foster works with placing music in commercials, delivering songs with melodies that really catch your ears complete with video games samplings and piano hooks. “Pumped Up Kicks” is currently A listed on Radio 1 and topped US and Canadian alternative tallies last year.

The group started playing together back in 2009 and “Pumped Up Kicks” first appeared on supergoodmusic.com back in early 2010 and got its first prominent exposure following a positive German blog review. The track is the headlines the group’s eponymous EP. It also appears on the debut album Torches.

Swedish House Mafia Gives Coldplay the Remix Treatment


CHART SPOTLIGHT. Our own DJ heroes Swedish House Mafia is giving Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” the remix treatment. WelcheMusic highlighted the release earlier, a single including the additional tracks “Major Minus” and “Moving to Mars.”

To date, “Teardrop” has charted across the world peaking at No.59 in Sweden, No.14 in the US while topping the South Korean tally.

According to Pachaholic, the Swedish House Mafia remix was previewed at Electronic Daisy Carnival at the end of June – watch it below and enjoy!

Swedish House Mafia recently unleashed the brand new Zedd remix of their hit single “Save the World,” which has been hailed by none  other than Afrojack.

Adele Sets Fire to the Rain with Spiking Sales

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Following years of decline, sales are finally spiking in the US. It’s headline news that the music industry’s sales are up according to USA Today. In total, sales were up 8.5% year-on-year according to a recent Nielsen SoundScan/Billboard report. Adele’s 21 sold 2.5m copies. Lady Gaga’s Born This Way is the runner-up with 1.5m copies.

“Set Fire to the Rain” to Bow This Sunday

Adele is set to return to the UK singles chart this Sunday with “Set Fire to the Rain,” the third single off the 21 album. WelcheMusic has tracked a lot of buzz surrounding “Turning Tables,” a track co-written and by Ryan Tedder, which was performed on Glee by Gwyneth Paltrow.

“Set Fire to the Rain” follows “Someone Like You” which topped the singles tally in the UK earlier this year becoming Adele’s first No.1 in that country ever. While “Rolling in the Deep” peaked at No.2, the track topped the Hot 100 and is currently topping Billboard Songs of Summer Chart. “Set Fire to the Rain” was co-written by Fraser T. Smith who previously penned James Morrison’s “Broken Strings” and Tinchy Stryder’s “Number 1.” “Rain” has already been released as a second single in different parts of Europe. It was released as the third single this Monday in the UK and is expected to bow on Sunday’s singles tally. It has topped the singles tallies in Holland and Belgium. So far it has peaked at No.88 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No.21 on the UK singles tally. Adele performed the track live for the first time on April 29 on The Graham Norton Show.

Adele to Join the The Voice UK

Adele is also reported to one of the judges on the UK version of The Voice according to The List. The other two judges are Cee Lo Green and Cheryl Cole. Not confirmed yet. Digital Spy also reports that the singer won’t release another album if she’s happy.  The source also says that Adele is the first British artist to sell more than one million copies of a single album with 21, her second record. The set is the biggest selling album of 2011 in the US.
