Keep the Summer Alive with Paradisio and Loona

CHART SPOTLIGHT. In an attempt to keep the summer alive, I just scouted Spotify for some true memorable summer hits. It usually ends up with a range of poppy euro disco hits, often sung in a Latin language. I discovered the album Best of Summer Hitz, collecting tracks that takes you back to the typical summer party.

Paradisio – Bailando Me Dices Adios (Live @ VTM Hit The Road 2009)

Originally dubbed as ‘Bailando’ upon its release in 1994, this track was also covered by Loona. The new version ‘Bailando me dices adios’ was released in 2009 as a re-interpretation by the new (and current) singer Shelby Diaz. The original sold more than 5m copies globally.

Loona – Vamos A La Playa (Official Video)

Ever heard of Marie-Jose van der Kolk? She goes under the stage name Loona and Carisma and reigns from Holland.  Loona debuted in 1995 with ‘Life Is Just a Game.’ In 1998, she scored a No.1 hit with ‘Bailando’ only a few years after Paradisio’s major success.

This Isn’t Everything You Are Next Hit Single for Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol back with album

→  Listen to the brand new remix of ‘Called Out in the Dark’!

CHART SPOTLIGHT. I’ve played Snow Patrol’s ‘Called Out in the Dark’ constantly since I blogged about the video. The group’s next single will be ‘This Isn’t Everything You Are’ and will be available on the new set Fallen Empire. Expected to bow on November 14, the album will include fourteen new tracks, blending electro guitar riffs with club friendly drums and Gary Lightbody’s touching lyrics. Gary Lightbody (singer), Nathan Connolly (guitarist), (Paul Wilson (bass), Jonny Quinn (drums) and Tom Simpson (keyboard) recorded the album in Los Angeles together with the producer Garrett ‘Jacknife’ Lee.

Inspired by U2

Fallen Empires is inspired by LCD Soundsystem’s The Sound of Silver, U2’s Achtung Baby and Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs. Despite the great musical variation, Snow Patrol has stuck to its core and this is a strong follow-up to 2008’s A Hundred Million Suns and 2009’s million selling Up to Now. I still think that their classic hit ‘Chasing Cars’ is the best track from Snow Patrol. Not least because it came to new life in Grey’s Anatomy. The Snow Patrol hit ‘Run’ has also been covered by Leona Lewis.

Snow Patrol will tour the UK and Ireland in 2012, and already second shows have been added to the tour.

Mary J. Blige Is Finally Back with 25/8

25-8
Mary J Blige's back with "25/8"

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Ok, I had to admit that I was sort of disappointed about David Guetta switching Mary J. Blige for Sia on ‘Titanium.’ But, rest assured Blige hasn’t given up on us. As My Life II…The Journey Continues (Act I) is slated for November release, the aforementioned ‘25/8’ saw its digital download release earlier this month. Produced and co-written by Eric Hudson who previously worked with Brandy, Trey Songs and Jamie Foxx, the track was initially performed live on Good Morning America.

CHART REFLECTION. Only recently, WelcheMusic blogged about Tove Styrke’s latest single ‘Call My Name.’ Now, the singer turns up on the Umeå group Caotico’s latest single ‘Brains Out.’ According to Swedish Stereo, the track is an ‘absolutely lovable track with a funky careless mode and soft electronic sound.’ The track has already climbed iTunes’s Swedish singles tally.

In an earlier post, WelcheMusic wrote about New York Post’s paying a lot attention to Tove Styrke. The article said that she is one of ten artists to keep track on during 2011. It also notes that her record producers have also worked on tracks for Kylie Minogue and Hillary Duff.
