Bruno Mars Takes Doo Wops & Hooligans to the Top

Bruno Mars vaults in at No.1 on the UK album chart with Doo Wops & Hooligans. The set peaked at No.3 in the US, but has already topped the charts in The Netherlands and Ireland. The singer was the most successful songwriter in the UK last year, and his credits included hits from B.o.B., Travie McCoy and K’Naan.

Bruno Mars Set to Top UK Singles Chart

Despite the official UK release of Bruno Mars’s “Grenade” is a few days away, WelcheMusic bets that it will become his second No.1 hit over there. Already attracting lots of airplay in the UK, Mars is only beaten by Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” on Music Week’s chart listing the most popular tracks on radio ahead of release.

Lena Is Taken By a Stranger

While Sweden let 32 artists compete in different heats, Germany chose another path. Last year’s winner Lena sang all the entries, so it didn’t come as a surprise that she will compete in Dusseldorf. “Taken By a Stranger” bows at No.2 on the German singles chart, unable to dethrone Bruno Mars’ “Grenade.” On the other hand, Swedish duo Roxette falls off the No.1 position on the album chart as Lena’s album Good News finally ascends to the top.
