Will In the End Be the Next Snow Patrol Hit?

Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol has released ‘In the End’ as the latest single off the Fallen Empires set. I’ve blogged about the previous hits ‘Called Out in the Dark’ and ‘This Isn’t Everything You Are.’ Via their home page, the group confirms attendance at the Portugese summer festival Optimus Alive where The Stone Roses, Florence & The Machine and Radiohead will perform. Snow Patrol will perform on July 13th ahead of Stone Roses. Snow Patrol also recently announced a performance with Calvin Harris in Dubai this March.

Snow Patrol’s Eyes Open Biggest Selling Album of 2006

Snow Patrol formed at the University of Dundee in 1994 and hails from Northern Ireland. They’re based in Glasgow these days. Final Straw (2003) was their debut with sales reaching more than 3 million copies worldwide. The follow-up set Eyes Open included ‘Chasing Cars’ which became a huge international hit single. Eyes Open was the biggest-selling British album of 2006.

I’ve blogged quite about their latest set Fallen Empires which includes brand new tracks. In addition to Optimus Alive, the group will embark on a tour in 2012 as well.

No video is available as yet, but the release of ‘In the End’ is indicated on Wikipedia.

Will Little Mix Be the 2011 Christmas No.1?

TheX Factor  winners Little Mix will need to sell a lot of copies of ‘Cannonball’ during the upcoming week to retain the top spot and become this year’s Christmas No.1. Usually, the winners’ debut singles are released on the week of the coveted Christmas number-one battle, but this year plans changed. Matt Cradle managed this feat with “When We Collide.”

One of my first blog entries back in 2009 highlighted that Joe McElderry was denied his No.1 single due to a Facebook campaign. Instead, Rage Against The Machine’s 1992 hit ‘Killing in the Name of’ topped the yuletide singles chart.

Comprising of members Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, Little Mix’s chart topping track in question is a cover of Damien Rice’s 2002 hit single ‘Cannonball.’ The track has charted in different versions, peaking at No.9 earlier this year.

Elvis Presley Goes Cher on Suspicious Minds

Sounds Like Cher
Suspicious Minds Is Back

Elvis Presley sounds suspiciously much like Cher on the Andrew Dawson’s Can’t Walk Out Edit. The track is currently in the top ten of the RunHundred’s top ten workout songs for December 2011. Compiled by Chris Lawhorn, a music journalist for Shape and Men’s Journal, RunHundred’s lists of workout songs is a haven for music/work out lovers.

Unfortunately the Elvis Presley remix isn’t available via Spotify (yet!) but you can purchase it via iTunes USA.

Pink has released a brand new track called ‘Bridge of Light.’ The single vaults into No.8 on the German singles chart this week and features Happy Feet Two Chorus. The song is the theme for the 2011 film Happy Feet 2 and is co-written by Billy Mann who previously collaborated with the likes of Celine Dion and Backstreet Boys.
