Chairlift’s “Met Before” Grows in Popularity
Chairlift recalls the much-plundered musical glories of the 1980’s.

The American indie band Chairlift’s ‘Met Before’ was the fastest rising track on Last.fm’s Hyped Tracks chart last week. The duo consists of Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly and its sophomore album “Something” was released at the end of January. ‘Amanaemonesia’ was the first single off the album, yet ‘Bruises’ has received most spins via Last.fm’s scrobbling stats. That track was also featured in an iPod commercial.

Chairlift’s debut album “Does You Inspire You” was initially released via Kanine Records in 2008, then re-issued by Columbia Records a year later with two additional tracks.

According to Pitchfork, “ ‘Met Before’ recalls the much-plundered musical glories of the 1980’s.” Stereogum calls “it a quick, rumbling affair that’s a tad punchier than the songs we’ve previously heard,” while The Dartmouth calls “Something” an overall weaker offering than their first album, “Does You Inspire You,” released in 2008.
