David Guetta Re-activates Album with Rihanna

David Guetta’s album One Love saw the light of day in August 2009. To date, the set has yielded no less than five singles. The set will be re-issued this November and include a brand new track featuring Rihanna. “Who’s That Chick?” is currently featured in an ad campaign for Doritos.

Released in April last year, “When Love Takes Over” was the hit that preceded the album. Featuring lead vocals by Kelly Rowland, the track topped the charts in Belgium, Czech Republic, Switzerland and the UK. The track failed to break in the US, peaking at No.76 on the Hot 100.

The second single off the album was the Akon collaboration “Sexy Bitch” (July 2009), which was followed by “One Love” (October). Two more singles were issued this year – Memories (featuring Kid Cudie) in March and “Gettin’ Over You” (featuring Chris Willis, Fergie and LMFAO).

Rihanna currently sits atop the UK singles chart with “Only Girl (In the World),” and as WelcheMusic previously reported her duet with Drake falls to No.7 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.

According to Music Week, the singer will issue the new album Michael on Dec.14. This marks the first album with new material, since the singer’s death in 2009.

This March, Michael Jackson’s record label Sony Music signed a deal with the singer’s estate. To date, one album has been issued – This Is It, which sold 5m copies worldwide. The lead single failed to make any impact on the worldwide charts, to date it has only made the top five in Japan. The track peaked at No.18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Charts.

Michael will include the song “Breaking News,” which was recorded in New Jersey back in 2007. That track is already available on michaeljackson.com. The set was produced by Akon, RedOne and will.i.am amongst others.

Perhaps, some of the new tracks will appear in the new Cirque du Soleil show Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour. The first leg of the North American tour opens Oct.2 in Montreal, Canada.

To date, Michael Jackson’s Thriller remains the best-selling album of all times with approximately 110 millions copies old worldwide. Released in November 1982, the set spawned seven hit singles.

Guetta Re-issue Vaults Into No.1

The French disc jockey David Guetta returns to the UK’s pole position with the re-issue of “Gettin’ Over.” The track peaked at No.41 upon its original release back in August 2009. A remixed version, featuring vocals by Chris Willis, Fergie and LFMAO enters the top this week becoming Guetta’s third No.1.

So far, five singles have been issued from Guetta’s 2009 album One Love. “When Love Takes Over” reached No.1 in several markets and Destiny Childs’s member Kelly Rowland burnt many a dancefloor last summer.

That track was followed by the Akon collaboration “Sexy Bitch,” re-named “Sexy Chick” in different markets. That single also made the top of the UK singles chart and was the second biggest hit of 2009 in Australia. The title track, “One Love,” with Estelle peaked at No.46.

“Memories” with Kid Cudie became the fourth hit, peaking at No.15. The track made it to the top in Belgium, the Czech Republic and France.

Re-issuing “Gettin’ Over” successfully adds a third UK chart-topper to Guetta’s merits and the single has also topped the German dance chart as well as the US Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Mary J. Blige Brings a Tear to Every Market

Expect Mary J. Blige to make a return to the charts with the second single lifted from her Stronger withEach Tear set. “Each Tear” comes in no fewer than five versions. Rapper Jay Sean was the original artist, but is replaced with Tiziano Ferro (Italy), Vanessa Amorosi (Australia), Rea Garvey (Germany) and K’naan (Canada).

Tiziano Ferro is an Italian latin pop storm who debuted in 2001 with the worldwide hit “Perdono.” In 2004 he recorded a duet with British r’n’b singer Jamelia. The track, “Universal Prayer,” made it to No.1 in Italy, Spain and Greece. The Mary J. Blige collaboration has already made it to No.1 in Italy this March.

Vanessa Amorosi broke internationally with the 1999 hit “Absolutely Everybody,” but since success has been limited to native Australia. Some of you might remember her performance at the Sydney 2000 Olympis ceremony.

German Rea Garvey is the singer of the rock/pop act Reamonn. The group got its breakthrough back in 2000 with “Supergirl,” and has produced a string of hits ever since. Garvey has previously collaborated with Nelly Furtado on a version of “All Good Things (Come to an End).” Finally, K’naan is a Somali-Canadian poet, rapper and musician. He got a No.2 hit in Canada last year with “Wavin’ Flag.”

“Each Tear” is produced by Supa Dups, who previously worked with the likes of Akon, Kardinal Offishall and Sean Paul.
