Swede Brings Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera to US Top 10

Adam Levine is back with Maroon 5

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Kudos to Shellback, the Karlshamn son who graced us with super hits like P!nk’s “So What,” Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” and Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want from Me.” Since his debut with Britney Spears’ “If U Seek Amy” back in 2008, the songwriter/producer have successfully collaborated with geniuses such as Max Martin.

His latest achievement is Maroon 5’s “Moves Likes Jagger.” It’s the group’s first top ten hit sin 2007’s “Makes Me Wonder,” and has so far peaked at No.8. A duet with Christina Aguilera, the track has already become a WelcheMusic favourite! Hopefully, it will continue to climb and become one of the biggest ever for the band.

Christina Aguilera Sued Over Sample

CHART REFLECTION. Burlesque diva Christina Aguilera has another problem on her hands. Not only has her chart career somewhat stalled, now Aguilera and her label Sony Music are being sued for not clearing a sample used in “Ain’t No Other Man” from 2006.  The track used a sample of “Hippy Skippy Moon Strut” as performed by Dave Cortez & The Moon People. Aguilera peaked at No.8 on the Hot 100 and even won a Grammy for that song. The publishing company TufAmerica makes the claim as it has the exclusive rights to this 1968 hit. “Ain’t No Other Man” peaked at No.15 in Sweden and No.2 in the UK.

Cher’s Remixes Hit the Dancefloor

CHART PLAYLIST. The new Cher and Christina Aguilera flick Burlesque recently hit theaters in Sweden. WelcheMusic has already covered the groovy soundtrack and a bunch of dance remixes recently bowed on Spotify. “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” has already topped the US dance chart, becoming the nation’s biggest floor filler. Written by the queen of ballads – Diane Warren – the track got the dance treatment by the likes of Almighty, the Swede Stonebridge and Dave Audé.

Unfortunately, the song failed to qualify for this year’s Oscars. Despite winning a Golden Globe earlier, it was not included among the list of nominees recently announced by the jury.

Matt Cardle Has the Xmas No.1

CHART SPOTLIGHT. The former painter and decorator Matt Cardle took home the X Factor crown this year. You might remember last year’s coup when Rage Against the Machine stole the “traditional” X Factor Christmas No.1 from Joe McElderry. No worries this year, when Matt Cardle vaults into No.1 with the Biffy Clyro cover “When We Collide.” Originally titled “Many of Horrors” the track was released by Biffy Clyro in January this year, reaching No.8 in the UK.

Back to Cardle, the singer won a £1m recording contract with Syco Music. The runner-up of this year’s  X Factor, Rebecca Ferguson, performed a duet with Christina Aguilera – “Beautiful” – on stage. Her “winner song” was Duffy’s “Distant Dreamer,” and had she won track would probably top the charts this week.
