Ne-Yo takes the lead in the UK

Ne-Yo claims his third chart-topper in the UK as “Beautiful Monster” bows on today’s singles chart. He has previously topped the tally with “Closer” and “So Sick.” The singer debuted back in 2006 and has since worked closely with the Norwegian production duo Stargate. “Beautiful Monster” is taken from his upcoming album Libra Scale, slated for release this October. The single flopped in the US, peaking at No.53 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This means that the boy band The Wanted only got a sole week at No.1 with “All Time Low,” which falls to No.5.  Ne-Yo is trailed by Flo Rida/David Guetta who moves 5-2. The only other new entry on the top ten is much hyped Eliza Doolittle who enters the No.8 positon with “Pack Up.”

The Canadian Indian Rock band Arcade Fire bows atop the album chart with The Suburbs. So far, the album has charted in Australia as well (at No.6). This means that Eminem’s Recovery loses the top position. Lady Gaga’s The Fame adds a 82nd week on the chart maintaining the No.6 position.

Guetta Re-issue Vaults Into No.1

The French disc jockey David Guetta returns to the UK’s pole position with the re-issue of “Gettin’ Over.” The track peaked at No.41 upon its original release back in August 2009. A remixed version, featuring vocals by Chris Willis, Fergie and LFMAO enters the top this week becoming Guetta’s third No.1.

So far, five singles have been issued from Guetta’s 2009 album One Love. “When Love Takes Over” reached No.1 in several markets and Destiny Childs’s member Kelly Rowland burnt many a dancefloor last summer.

That track was followed by the Akon collaboration “Sexy Bitch,” re-named “Sexy Chick” in different markets. That single also made the top of the UK singles chart and was the second biggest hit of 2009 in Australia. The title track, “One Love,” with Estelle peaked at No.46.

“Memories” with Kid Cudie became the fourth hit, peaking at No.15. The track made it to the top in Belgium, the Czech Republic and France.

Re-issuing “Gettin’ Over” successfully adds a third UK chart-topper to Guetta’s merits and the single has also topped the German dance chart as well as the US Hot Dance Club Play chart.

The Black Eyed Peas Rock Your Body Right

The Black Eyed Peas issued The E.N.D. last June and it has so far resulted in five hit singles.  The title is short for “the energy never dies,” which is obviously true as the group’s dominated airwaves for almost a year. The latest single, “Rock That Body,” was originally issued on Jan.15 in Australia. Interpolating the “I wanna rock right now” line from Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock’s 1988 hit “It Takes Two,” the Black Eyed Peas song wasn’t issued in the UK until this March and the track’s not slated for a US release until this month, early May.

“Rock That Body” follows the last single  “Imma Be” to that extent that a medley mashup of the two songs are included on the single.  It was also included on the “Imma Be” single. It’s also interesting to note that “Rock That Body” is the second Black Eyed Peas track produced by David Guetta. Most famous for the collaboration with Kelly Rowland on “When Love Takes Over,” Guetta also produced “I Gotta Feeling.”

Sade Stays on Top on New Eurochart

Sade has the biggest selling album in Europe according to the new pan-European sales charts published by Billboard earlier this week. The Soldier of Love album tops the album charts in France, Hungary, the Czech Republic and the Belgian region of Wallony, while it loses the No.1 position in Italy and Sweden. German rock band Unheilig enters at No.6 with Grosse Freiheit and the German-Tunisian rapper Bushido bows at No.7.

Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” remains on top of the singles chart in its 17th week, while Lady Gaga and Owl City hold steady at No.2 and No.3. The highest new entry comes from Jason Derulo’s, whose “In My Head” recently topped the UK singles chart. David Guetta’s collaboration with Kid Cudi (“Memories”) races 14-5 and Rihanna also takes a heavy leap from 19-7 with “Rude Boy.” Read the full article here.
