The Swedish producer RedOne will help Jennifer Lopez with new material. She’s in dire need as WelcheMusic pointed out in the earlier blogpost “Will Jennifer Lopez Return to Her Former Glory?”RedOne has produced a majority of Lady Gaga’s hits, including “Just Dance” and “Bad Romance.” According to Expressen, “[Jennifer’s] very positive and content. She knows what she wants.” Jennifer Lopez is currently one of the judges on American Idol. RedOne is launching Swedish Mohombi in the States. His “Bumby Ride” has become a pan-European hit and will promoted in the US.
So far, Jennifer Lopez has produced seven studio albums. The last single was “Louboutins” in 2009, which peaked at No.1 on the US dance chart. The singer debuted in 1999 with “If You Had My Love” – a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, which peaked at No.4 in the UK.
23 year old Swedish-Kurd pop singer Darin scores his 18th hit on the Swedish singles tally as “Microphone” bows at No.16. Lifted from the latest album LoveKiller, the track is used in the promotional video for the 2010 season of Idol. No stranger to that talent show, Darin was the runner-up in 2005 beaten by Daniel Lindström.
No less than five tracks have charted from his latest album. Apart from the title track, which soars 14-10 on this week’s singles tally, the following tracks have peaked so far.
“Viva La Vida” was performed live on Idol last October, topping the charts for two weeks. This actually beats Coldplay’s original chart performance as they peaked at No.7 in May 2008.
“You’re Out of My Life” was produced by Arnthor of Jennifer Lopez fame and was Darin’s entry in the Swedish leg of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. It peaked at No.3 this March.
“Can’t Stop Love” was written especially for the royal wedding of Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling, peaking at No.13 in June.
“Microphone” bows at No.16 this week.
His LoveKiller album enters at No.2 this week, unable to knock Iron Maiden’s The Final Frontier off the top. Darin’s first three albums (The Anthem, Darin and Break the News) all made it to the top, while 2008’s Flashback peaked at No.10.
There was a time when Jennifer Lopez was synonymous with a Billboard Hot 100 hit. She’s managed to score four No.1 hits in the US, but since the release of “All I Have,” a duet with L.L. Cool J things hasn’t looked good for Lopez. That collaboration managed to top the Hot 100 and even reached No.2 in the UK back in 2003.
The track was included on her This Is Me…Then set, which was led by the single “Jenny from the Block.” It featured, then, boyfriend Ben Affleck in a video inspired by all the paparazzis in their lives. In 2005, Jennifer Lopez released the album Rebirth. The set included the No.12 hit “Get Right” and “Hold You Down,” a duet with Fat Joe that peaked at No.64.
Latin album Como ama una mujer was issued in 2007, the year when Brave also saw the light of day. The latter album was led by “Do It Well,” a No.31 hit – far worse than the UK peak at No.11. When Jennifer Lopez collaborates with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart and performs at the 2009 American Music Awards, things are looking good. “Louboutins” made it to No.13 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Songs chart, but failed to reach any other upon its release in December last year.
Her new album Love? includes collaborations with Darkchild and Danja and last month, Epic announced it will part ways with Jennifer Lopez. No announcement has been made on what label will pick this project up, but rumours say that it’s Island Def Jam after Lopez being spotted to the record label’s chairman L.A. Reid, tha famous songwriter.
According to Wikipedia, “Everybody’s Girl” is expected to be the second single from the set. According to the German radio station, this was praised a stand out track. WelcheMusic hopes that “Story of My Life,” a track signed Rihanna/Ne-Yo production team StarGate. It’s usually bound for success.
