Timberlake Turns His SexyBack on Music

While the WelcheMusic team looks forward to the up-coming flick The Social Network, we’re just as disappointed to learn that Justin Timberlake is done making music. According to a recent The Sun news piece, the singer does not have plans for a new album. His latest set Future Sex/Love Sounds was issued in September 2006 and spawned no less than six hit singles.

Justin Timberlake plays Napster founder Sean Parker in The Social Network and the trailer includes a choir version of Radiohead’s “Creep,” far from the usual r’n’b routine from Timberlake.

Although Timberlake hasn’t put out any music as a solo artist, lately he’s been featured on hits with Jamie Foxx, Esmee Danters, Timbaland and Chiara.

22-Year Old Posner Takes Off Where Timberlake Left

The American singer/songwriter Mike Posner was born in 1988. A year when INXS, Chicago and Steve Winwood dominated the Billboard Hot 100. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Posner graduated this year with a degree in sociology at Duke University. At Duke, he produced mixtapes eventually signing a major deal with J Records last summer.

The Gigamesh-produced debut hit “Cooler than Me” has already reached No.6 on the Hot 100 and the track has also reached the top ten in Canada, Norway, and New Zealand. It was followed by “Please Don’t Go.” Posner’s debut set 31 Minutes to Takeoff was released last month. The album opens with the title track, a 34-second vignette. Original and inspiring. Mike Posner more or less takes off where Justin Timberlake left.  The set entered the Billboard 200 at No.8 upon its release.

Katie Still Gives Katy Perry a Run for Her Money

WelcheMusic might just have stumbled upon the next Katy Perry. Californian Katie Still collaborates with producers Roy “Royalty” Hamilton (of Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears fame) and Brody Brown. Our favorites are “Get Over It” and “You Should Be Dancing,” available on the music site Hitlantis. Hopefully her presence there might just lead to a record deal.

Stevie Wonder Cover to Boost Esmée Denters’ U.S. Career

The 22 year old Dutch singer Esmée Denters premiered her cover of Stevie Wonder’s “As” via Billboard.com’s online music program Mashup Monday earlier this month. This might be just the right push for her career. Already a huge star in her native Holland, Denters is yet to break into the coveted U.S. market although she’s backed up by Justin Timberlake himself. Their duet “Love Dealer” was recently released in the States, but has failed to break.

Signed by Timberlake

Justin Timberlake discovered Esmée Denters on YouTube, where she posted covers of artists such as Timberlake and Natasha Bedingfield. Denters was signed on Timberlake’s own record label Tennman Records. Last May, Denters’ debut album Outta Here was issued in Europe and preceded by the title track as the first single. So far, that track has reached the top ten in the Netherlands, UK and Hungary. Her biggest hit in the UK to date is the Chipmunk duet “Until You Were Gone,” which peaked at No.3 this April.

“Love Dealer” is yet to make any impact on the main U.S. chart, so far peaking outside the top 20 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Written back in 2008 by Esmée Denters, Justin Timberlake and the production team Stargate, the song has also been recorded in a version featuring rapper Jay Sean.
