Will Ville Eetvartti’s Lasikaupunki Represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku?

Look out for Ville Eetvartti, whose ‘Lasikaupunki’ could end up as the Finnish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 to be held in Azerbaijani Baku. No stranger to fame, Ville Eetvartti rose to fame as one of the singers in the TV show ‘Clash of the Choirs.’ Singing Kings of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody,’ it’s no surprise that ‘Lasikaupunki’ sounds familiar to Coldplay.

Ville Eetvartti’s entry  is one of 40 to qualify from a round of demos evaluated by the Finnish broadcaster YLE. A total of 540 tracks were submitted between August and September last year. The grand finale is scheduled in February in the Helsinki Ice Hall and will be hosted by Anne Lainto and Joona Kortesmäki.

The move to an open audition was announced last summer, opening the possibility for anyone to submit a song for qualification. Paradise Oskar represented Finland in the last final ending up as No.21 out of 25 contestants. Lordi managed to oust all competition when the group won the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah.’ A track that even climbed the UK singles chart, peaking at No.25. Lordi also placed the follow-up single ‘Who’s Your Daddy?’ at top of the native singles chart.

Cee Lo Green Fends Off Competition from Gary Barlow & Robbie Williams

Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams made peace after a ten year grudge. Just the thought of them doing something musically ever again renders a No.1 hit to say the least, but the new hit “Shame” enters at No.2. It turns out that they were unable to match ex-Gnarls Barkley singer Cee Lo Green whose “F**k You” replaces Tinie Tempah’s “Written in the Stars” atop the UK singles chart.

Not even the hype around Take That’s comeback and comeback single “The Flood” managed to beat the interest of Green’s.  Swedish House Mafia returns to the top ten with the second hit “Miami 2 Ibiza.” The track features Tinie Tempah on guest vocals, which means that the artist has two entries on this week’s top five.  A hugely successful week as his album Disc-overy manages to bow atop the album chart.

Kings of Leon also makes a welcome return to the charts with “Radioactive” at No.7.
