Jason Derulo Scores New UK No.1

Jason Derulo storms straight into the top spot with “In My Head.” Former No.1, “Everybody Hurts” falls 1-9 which means that there are lots of changes on this week’s UK Top 40. Florence + The Machine remains at No.2 with “You Got the Dirtee Love” with Dizzee Rascal, while Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” moves 6-3. The second highest new entry comes from Ellie Goulding, whose “Starry Eyed” manages to reach No.4 in its first week. Sugababes is the third new entry in the top 10 with “Wear My Kiss” at No.7.

Lady Gaga’s The Fame returns to No.1 on the album chart in its 59th week. Last week’s chart topper, Glee Cast, is pushed back to No.2 . The chart welcomes new top ten entries from Marina and the Diamonds, The Courteneers and Johnny Cash.

Black Eyed Peas Knocks Ke$ha Off the Top

Black Eyed Peas’ “Imma Be” becomes the third track from The E.N.D. to reach the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was actually issued as the first promo single and samples The Budos Band’s “Ride or Die.” Before officially being released as a single, it reached No.50 on the Hot 100 based on downloads alone. So far, it has also charted in Canada, Australia and Hungary. In Europe, “Rock That Body” was released as a single instead.

Last year, Black Eyed Peas managed to top the Hot 100 chart for 26 weeks with “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.” The third single, “Meet Me Halfway” peaked at No.7.

This means that Ke$ha loses the pole position following a nine week stretch. As she falls to No.2, “TikTok” is trailed by Young Money’s “BedRock,” moving 4-3. “We Are the World 25: For Haiti” slips to No.6 after debuting at the runner-up spot last week.

Sade remains on top with Soldier of Love. Fueled by the success of “Imma Be,” Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. moves 8-3 in its 37th week. The album actually notice a small sales decrease (-2%), but it’s quite a feat to sit at No.3 after such a long time. And even more impressive, Lady Gaga’s The Fame moves 7-4 in its 69th week. Add Taylor Swift’s Fearless, which spends its 67th week at No.10 and the conclusion that it’s a quite “old” chart.

Glee Cast Set to Top UK Album Chart This Sunday

Music Week reports that Glee Cast is set to top the UK album chart this Sunday. Sales figures indicate that Glee – The Music – Vol 1 outsells Alicia Keys’ The Element of Freedom by more than two copies to one. Lady GaGa’s The Fame is set to take the No.3 spot. ITV1 will broadcast the Brit Awards tonight and winners will probably benefit in terms of increasing sales.

Owl City is expected to chart with their Ocean Eyes album, including the No.1 hit single “Fireflies.” The charity single “Everybody Hurts” is expected to retain the pole position but will not reach last week’s sales figures. Lemar’s return single “The Way Love Goes”  is also expected to appear.
