Flo Rida’s I Cry Lyrics Honors Victims in Norway

CHART SPOTLIGHT. US rapper Flo Rida earns his third consecutive No.1 hit in Norway as ‘I Cry’ ascends to the top in its second week. There’s no coincidence that Norwegians were quick to embrace the song which is based on Bingo Player’s 2011 track ‘Cry (Just a Little),’ which is in its turn built on Brenda Russell’s 1988 hit ‘Piano in the Dark.’

A part of Flo Rida’s rap is dedicated to the Utøya victims:

Norway, no you didn’t get my flowers
No way to sound better but the killer was a coward
Face just showers, the minute in a hour
Heard about the news all day went sour

According to the Norwegian media outlets  VG and På NåFlo Rida had wanted to come to Olso this July. I Cry’ bows at No.21 on the Swedish digital download chart, expect it to rise in the coming weeks. The track is also this week’s smash at the hit radio station NRJ.

‘Whistle’ Remains a Hit

His former hit ‘Whistle’ remains a hit in Sweden, according to SvD it currently sits at No.5. The track also remains within the top ten in Norway. Flo Rida also gets support from the our national female soccer team, who currently works out to a list including Chris Brown’s ‘Don’t Wake Me Up,’ Mohombi’s ‘Love to Party’ and ‘I Cry’ according to news paper Aftonbladet’s sports edition.

I’ve previously covered Flo Rida on WelcheMusic, back in January ‘Wild Ones’ was the comeback single with Sia and last February ‘Turn Around’ made a belated entry on the Swedish singles chart.

CHART SPOTLIGHT.  The summer is far from over, and there will be plenty of chances to hit the clubs. WelcheMusic is convinced that the latest cover of Elvis Crespo’s 1998 hit “Suavemente” dubbed “Suave (Kiss Me)” will become a dancefloor filler. Hot on the heels of  “Give Me Everything,” Miami singer and model Nayer returns with the help of both Pitbull and Swedish singer Mohombi. Once again, RedOne has demonstrated his ability to deliver hits. Currently charting with Pitbull’s “Rain on Me,” the Swedish producer has delivered a track similar to Jennifer Lopez’ “On the Floor.”

Back to Nayer, the singer moved to Los Angeles at 14 haven appeared in several ads as well as TV programs such as Sábado Gigante and La piñata loca. Nayer’s new single “Suave (Kiss Me)” is not the first to sample “Suavemente.” In 2005, German techno act Scooter recorded the track. Translating into “smoothly” or “softly” in Spanish, the original is a merengue-style of song, a music and dance from the Dominican Republic. Elvis Crespo is a Puerto Rican-American Latin singer who broke out of the pop group Groupo Manía.

The third hit “One Shot” peaked at No.6, and was quickly followed by the two No.1s “The Club Is Alive” and  “Love You More.” To date, the group has released two albums – the second one being Outta This World. The latter also produced the No.8 hit “Eyes Wide Shut” featuring Tinie Tempah. JLS was the runner-ups to Alexandra Burke on X-Factor in 2008.

New arena/documentary

According to The Hype Factor, a new arena/documentary movie has premiered named JLS Eyes Wide Open 3D.  Tickets have already sold out, but more screens to the cinema was added quickly.  The A Song for Europe blog referred the track to typical “RedOne fodder and sounds like Mohombi multiplied by four with the hook of Britney Spears’ ‘Till The World Ends thrown in for good measure.”
