Will S&M become StarGate’s Ninth No.1?

CHART SPOTLIGHT. You’ve probably noticed by now how WelcheMusic proudly supports our Nordic producers Max Martin, RedOne, Shellback and StarGate. Per a recent article in Billboard, it’s clear that Norwegian StarGate has been so successful over the years and “S&M” with Rihanna could very well become their ninth Hot 100 hit.

So far, the team has scored the following No.1 hits in the US:

  • Rihanna – Rude Boy (2010)
  • Rihanna – Only Girl (In the World) (2010)
  • Rihanna – What’s My Name (2010)
  • Katy Perry – Firework (2010)
  • Wiz Khalifa – Black and Yellow (2011)
  • Ne-Yo – So Sick (2006)
  • Beyoncé – Irreplacable (2006)
  • Rihanna –  Take a Bow (2008)

Look out for Jennifer Lopez next single with Lil’ Wayne – “I’m Into You” might also do the trick and become a No.1 for the production team. They’re also working on material with JoJo, Kelly Rowland and have produced Blue’s “I Can” which will compete in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest for the UK.

Jennifer Lopez Claims UK Top Spot

CHART SPOTLIGHT. “On the Floor” continues its worldwide success as Jennifer Lopez claims her third UK No.1 in her career. “On the Floor” pushes Adele’s “Someone Like You” to No.2, but Adele continue her dominance on the album chart with 21 and 19 occupying the No.1 and No.2 slots.

Jennifer Lopez previously topped the UK singles chart with “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” (2000) and “Get Right” (2005).

In December, WelcheMusic posed the question if the Swedish producer RedOne could revive Jennifer Lopez career. Sure thing, “On the Floor” has peaked at No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it rebounds 13-10 this week) and raises 7-2 on the latest Swedish singles tally becoming her biggest hit her ever.

Lady Gaga Goes Country

CHART SPOTLIGHT. We all knew that Gwyneth Paltrow is a country gal, but who knew that Lady Gaga had that within her. The singer tweeted yesterday morning (Mar.24) that a Country Road version of “Born This Way” will be released on Twitter this Friday.

The track was released last month and immediately critics claimed that it was a rip-off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself.” Less likely, the country version will be accused of that.

“Judas” will be the next track to be released off the upcoming album. The track reunits Gaga with Swedish producer RedOne. WelcheMusic promises to report when Swedish House Mafia goes country!

RedOne Remixes Like a G6

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Like no other, RedOne revisits Far East Movement’s “Like a G6.” WelcheMusic first covered the Los Angeles based quartet back in October last year, when the track initially charted on the Hot 100.  The RedOne remix features Swedish-Congolese r’n’b singer Mohombi on guest vocals. The track headlines the digital remix EP.

The original version was produced by The Cataracs who has produced Snoop Dogg, New Boyz and Travis Barker since. “Like a G6” is included on the debut album Free Wired. To date, the track has been featured in TV shows  such as CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and Entourage.

“Like a G6” peaked at No.7 on the Swedish singles tally in December 2010. We’ve also covered the follow-up “Rocketeer” on this blog. That track featured Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic on guest vocals. RedOne recently remixed Usher’s “More.”
