CHART SPOTLIGHT.  Sure, it was the clash between Leona Lewis and producer Avicii. Let’s forget about it for a minute and focus on the brilliant Afrojack Remix of ‘Collide.’ Scheduled for release in September, this marks the return of Leona Lewis who hasn’t issued a hit single since 2010’s ‘I Got You.’

The track is written by Autumn Rowe who also penned the current hit by Cher Lloyd (‘Swagger Jagger’). Produced by French Sandy Vee, the track premiered on The Scott Mills Show in mid-July. Back to the feud with Avicii, his record label Ministry of Sound claimed that Leona Lewis’ use of a sample was unauthorized. Lewis’ label Syco ciaims, however, that he is properly credited.

September Turns ‘Mikrofonkåt’ into English


CHART SPOTLIGHT. WelcheMusic closely follows euro disco vocalist September. Since our last entry, the singer has retained the No.1 spot on the Swedish singles tally with “Mikrofonkåt.” She has fought off competition from novelty act Sean Banan and the Swedish Idol winner Jay Smith.

Don’t be surprised if the singer returns to the UK singles chart any time soon. The track has been translated into English further to the success of Mikrofonkåt.” As previously reported, the track was originally released by the Swedish rapper Petter back in 1999.

This fall both Petter and September have participated in the national TV show Så mycket bättre, where seven artists perform each other’s songs. According to the eminent pop blog Scandipop, “Me & My Microphone” already received its first airplay earlier this month when Scott Mills played it on the Floorfillers show on BBC Radio1.

Earlier today, September tweeted ‘News from UK, #meandmymicrophone was played on Christmas Day (again!) Good stuff.’ A welcome return to the UK charts, September last entry was “Can’t Get Over You” which peaked at No.14. The track was taken off her album Dancing Shoes.

Agnes to Include Additional Tracks on International Edition

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Née Agnes Emilia Carlsson in 1988, this 23-year old singer got her breakthrough in the Swedish edition of Idol back in 2005. Her international breakthrough came with “Release Me,” which made the UK top three as well as topping the Billboard dance chart.

Agnes latest studio album Dance Love Pop was originally released in 2008 and resulted in no less than five singles. “I Need You Know” was the second single off the set in the UK and was released in a remix. The song premiered on BBC Radio 1’s Floorfillers with Scott Mills back in September 2009. The track finally peaked at No.40 in the UK.

In June 2010, Agnes recorded a duet with Swedish singer Björn Skifs. The track – “When You Tell the World You’re Mine” – was written and produced by Jörgen Elofsson (of Britney Spears fame). The song was originally performed at the wedding ceremony of Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling.

The track peaked at No.1 in Sweden, even charting on the European Hot 100 Singles chart. It also peaked at No.19 in Finland.

“When You Tell the World You’re Mine” was succeeded by Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s “We Speak No Americano” in July 2010.
