Jessica Simpson Puts a Ring on It


WelcheMusic congratulates Jessica Simpson on her newly announced engagement with former NFL player Eric Johnson. Simpson parted with ex-husband Nick Lachey back in 2005.Tomorrow, Simpson will release the holiday album Happy Christmas, including the preceding single “My Only Wish.” The set will be released via Primary Wave Records, famous for purchasing 50% of Kurt Cobain’s music catalog. Earlier this fall, it was announced that Jessica Simpson’s in the studio with producers The-Dream and Tricky Stewart working on up-coming albums.

Jessica Simpson made her debut in November 1999 with the album Sweet Kisses. The set was certified 2x platinum in the States and yielded three singles.  Her debut hit was “I Wanna Love You Forever,” a No.3 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The track reached the top ten across the world  – including the UK, Norway, Sweden, Australia and Japan. That track was quickly followed by “Where You Are,” a duet with former hub Lachey.

Despite six studio albums, her own MTV reality show and endless press coverage, Jessica Simpson has only reached Billboard Hot 100 top ten with her debut hit. She’s even had a more successful career in the UK where “With You” (2003) and “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” (2005) have reached the top ten.

Jessica Simpson’s latest album came in September 2008 – an attempt to cross over to country. Her last pop album was “A Public Affair,” including the title track which featured appearances from Christina Applegate, Christina Milian, Eva Longoria Parker and Ryan Seacrest in the video. That set was released in 1996.

Jessica Simpson is engaged to be married. Her new fiancé is a former NFL player.

Cher Re-Unites with Diane Warren in Burlesque Flick

Scheduled for premiere on Nov.24, Cher and Christina Aguilera headlines the upcoming movie Burlesque. Cher plays the proprietor of a burlesque lounge, where Christina Aguilera is hired as a cocktail waitress. Expect a lot of music in this flick, last week saw the release of Aguilera’s “Express” single to US radio.  “Express” is written and produced by Claude Kelly and Tricky Stewart. The track was promoted to US radio last week. This is the first track to promote Aguilera since “You Lost Me,” this July.  The single was the third and final release off the Bionic set.

The upcoming soundtrack also features the power ballad “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.” It is written by Diane Warren – one of the most prolific writers in history. Cher has recorded classic Warren tracks such as “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Save Up All Your Tears.” Cher hasn’t issued a single since 2003 when she recorded a duet with Rod Stewart called “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.”  The song was included on Stewart’s As Time Goes By album and peaked at No.17 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.

Will Jennifer Lopez Return to Her Former Glory?


There was a time when Jennifer Lopez was synonymous with a Billboard Hot 100 hit. She’s managed to score four No.1 hits in the US, but since the release of “All I Have,” a duet with L.L. Cool J things hasn’t looked good for Lopez. That collaboration managed to top the Hot 100 and even reached No.2 in the UK back in 2003.

The track was included on her This Is Me…Then set, which was led by the single “Jenny from the Block.” It featured, then, boyfriend Ben Affleck in a video inspired by all the paparazzis in their lives. In 2005, Jennifer Lopez released the album Rebirth. The set included the No.12 hit “Get Right” and “Hold You Down,” a duet with Fat Joe that peaked at No.64.

Latin album Como ama una mujer was issued in 2007, the year when Brave also saw the light of day. The latter album was led by “Do It Well,” a No.31 hit – far worse than the UK peak at No.11.  When Jennifer Lopez collaborates with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart and performs at the 2009 American Music Awards, things are looking good. “Louboutins” made it to No.13 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Songs chart, but failed to reach any other upon its release in December last year.

Her new album Love? includes collaborations with Darkchild and Danja and last month, Epic announced it will part ways with Jennifer Lopez. No announcement has been made  on what label will pick this project up, but rumours say  that it’s Island Def Jam after Lopez being spotted to the record label’s chairman L.A. Reid, tha famous songwriter.

According to Wikipedia, “Everybody’s Girl” is expected to be the second single from the set. According to the German radio station, this was praised a stand out track. WelcheMusic hopes that “Story of My Life,” a track signed Rihanna/Ne-Yo production team StarGate. It’s usually bound for success.

Justin Bieber Back with the Help of Ludacris

Canadian singer Justin Bieber was born in March 1994 and immediately became Usher’s protegé upon being discovered by the manager Scooter Braun via YouTube. My World was released in November 2009 as the first part of his debut album. The set has resulted no less than four singles – “One Time,” “One Less Lonely Girl,” “Love Me” and “Favorite Girl.”


’The second part called My World 2.0 is set to be released in March this year, and the first single “Baby” has already been issued. The track featuring rapper Ludacris and was written and produced by Tricky Stewart, The-Dream and Christina Milian (of “AM to PM” fame). A second single is expected to be “Never Let You Go.” “Baby” will be included on the next WelcheMusic compilation out soon.

Justin Bieber is one of the singer’s on the new version of “We Are the World.”
