Not to be confused with Loreen, the US R&B singer Usher has teamed up with Swedish House Mafia. Titled ‘Euphoria,’ it’s the final cut on the singer’s seventh album “Looking 4 Myself.” Currently climbing the charts with the Max Martin-penned ‘Scream,’ Usher is set to land yet another landmark album.
Haven listened to the set, there’s plenty of great music. The set was preceded by the first single ‘Climax’ produced by Diplo. According to Wikipedia, the Swedish House Mafia track is not listed as an upcoming single. Hot off the heels of ‘Scream.’ ‘Lemme See’ has already been released charted on the French (No.88), Hot 100 (No.94) and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (No.13) charts, current peak positions in bracket.
Usher Terry Raymond IV was born in 1978 and got his proper breakthrough in 1997 with the US No.4 album “My Way.” The singer has racked up no less than 45 singles to date. He collaborated with Max Martin for the first time on ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love’ (which featured Pitbull) on the set “VS.” (2010).
Almost a year ago, I blogged about the anticipated release of Adele’s set 21. It sold more than 16 million copies worldwide which is remarkable. In the US, 21 had the biggest annual sales figure since Usher’s 2004 set Confessions. Three official singles have been lifted off Adele’s sophomore set, what was your favorite?
Adele – Rolling in the Deep
‘Rolling in the Deep’ was initially released at the end of November 2010, preceding the album. The song topped no less than four Billboard charts, including the Hot 100. It was also nominated for three Grammy awards. Despite spending almost a year on the Swedish singles tally (48 wks), it never reached the top ten peaking at No.11.
Adele – Someone Like You
The second single off 21 actually charted last January as many bought it as an à la carte download. Adele’s performance at the 2011 BRIT Awards sent the track from No.46 to No.1 in the UK, beating Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’ The single was the UK’s biggest seller of 2011. It initially bowed at No.57 in Sweden last June, not reaching its No.3 peak until September.
Adele – Set Fire to the Rain (Live at The Royal Albert Hall)
The power ballad ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ was released last July, missing out the top ten in the UK. It fared better in the US, peaking at No.7 on the Hot 100. It earned its biggest success in Belgium, where it became the No.5 best seller of 2011. It peaked at No.13 in Sweden.
CHART SPOTLIGHT. Included on both Enrique Iglesias’Euphoria album and Usher’s first Versus EP, “Dirty Dancer” is set to storm the charts worldwide. Co-written and produced by the Swedish RedOne, the track was recorded in Miami.
