RedOne Will Represent Russia with Alexey Vorobyov

CHART REFLECTION. As previously reported, Love Generation unfortunately failed to qualify for the 2011 Melodifestivalen final this Saturday. The debacle and further criticism has led to SVT revealing the actual results and despite an error in the voting procedure this didn’t affect the results.

While Lady Gaga’s producer RedOne failed to represent Sweden in the Eurovision final, he recently won the Russian final. Alexey Vorobyov will participate with “Get You,” signed by RedOne. Vorobyov reigns from Tula and was one of the winners of The Secret of Success, a musical project in 2005. He signed a record deal with Universal Music Russia the year after.

In 2010, Russia ended at No.11 in the Oslo final with Peter Nalitch & Friends’ “Lost and Forgotten.” WelcheMusic recommends Eurovision.TV for further reading and keeps fingers crossed that RedOne will succeed in the German final.

Lady Gaga Claims Swedish Top Spot

CHART SPOTLIGHT. According to a recent tweet, the next single to be lifted off the Born This Way set by Lady Gaga will be the RedOne production “Judas.” Currently sitting at No.1 in the US, Gaga manages to dethrone Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” in Sweden this week.

“Born This Way” becomes the singer’s third No.1 hit following “Poker Face” and “Bad Romance.” Issued on Feb.11, the track has managed to also reach the top in Australia, Canada, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, South Korea, Scotland, Netherlands and Belgium.  The track peaked at No.3 in the UK, while only managing to reach No.43 in the Czech Republic. WelcheMusic will follow the Czech chart run.

The track was produced by Gaga, DJ White Shadow and Fernando Garibay. The latter has previously worked with the singer on tracks such as “Dance in the Dark” and the SNL version of  “Paparazzi.” Earlier this year, “Bad Romance”  and The Fame Monster rendered Lady Gaga several Grammies.

BRIT Awards Performance Gives Adele Her First UK No.1

CHART SPOTLIGHT. The recent performance at the 2011 BRIT Awards certainly paid off for Adele whose “Someone Like You” bows atop the singles chart this Sunday. Back in January, WelcheMusic started the countdown to the release of 21. This follows “Rolling in the Deep” which peaked at No.2 earlier this year.  “Deep” remains on the singles chart, moving 5-4.

The ballad tells the tale of a relationship that has broken down. Adele’s performance at the BRIT Awards was so emotional that she broke down in tears. A live version of the track was also released via iTunes, which topped the download sales chart within 24 hours ahead of the album version.

In Sweden, Adele has had two entries on the singles tally. “Chasing Pavements” reached No.37 in 2008 while “Rolling in the Deep” peaked at No.46 last November.

Back to the singles chart, last week’s No.1 Jessie J drops to No.2 with “Price Tag.” Lady Gaga remains at No.3 with “Born This Way.”

You Me At Six Takes Chiddy to the UK Chart

CHART SPOTLIGHT. The British rock band You Me At Six reached new heights as the new single “Rescue Me” bows at No.21 on the singles tally tonight. The group comes from Surrey and was formed in 2005. The five-piece group got its breakthrough in 2007 when they were nominated in the Best British Newcomer category at the Kerrang! Awards. They lost to Gallows.

“Rescue Me” is the first single to be taken off You Me At Six’ third studio album, yet to be titled. It features Chiddy on vocals, one of the two members of the alternative hip hop band Chiddy Bang.

On Last.FM, “Underdog” is still the most popular track during the last week, ahead of “Stay with Me.” You Me At Six has previously recorded covers of Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed”  as well as Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”

According to the music blog Good Music All Day, the song debuted on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show in early January. A version where the two verses from Chiddy were omitted circulated ahead of the radio release. WelcheMusic will keep you posted on forthcoming news about the group
