Lopez Tops Swedish Singles Tally as Melodifestivalen Fever Fades

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Following the Melodifestivalen frenzy, the Swedish singles tally slowly comes back “to normal.” Eric Saade’s “Popular” is replaced by Jennifer Lopez’ “On the Floor,” her first ever No.1 in this country.

Lady Gaga moves 6-3 with “Born this Way” in its eighth week, at close distance of beating her No.2 debut. A WelcheMusic favorite, Swedish singer Veronica Maggio matches her No.4 peak of “Jag kommer” which continues to climb after falling out of the top ten a few weeks ago.

Following the debut of her new music video, Britney Spears takes a leap from 28-13 with “Till the World Ends.” Her former hit “Hold It Against Me” spends a 12th week on the tally, moving 40-33. Her new set Femme Fatale unfortunately makes a 5-7 drop in its second week on the album chart.

A year ago, Eric Saade topped the singles chart with “Manboy” while Rolandz topped the album chart with Jajamen.

Lady Gaga Goes Country

CHART SPOTLIGHT. We all knew that Gwyneth Paltrow is a country gal, but who knew that Lady Gaga had that within her. The singer tweeted yesterday morning (Mar.24) that a Country Road version of “Born This Way” will be released on Twitter this Friday.

The track was released last month and immediately critics claimed that it was a rip-off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself.” Less likely, the country version will be accused of that.

“Judas” will be the next track to be released off the upcoming album. The track reunits Gaga with Swedish producer RedOne. WelcheMusic promises to report when Swedish House Mafia goes country!

Black Eyed Peas Can’t Get Enough in Germany

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Following the global success of “The Time (Dirty Bit),” Black Eyed Peas returns to the charts with another single off The Beginning. Produced by will.i.am, DJ Ammo and Rodney Jerkins (who produced “Telephone” w/Gaga-Beyoncé), the track vaults into No.9 on the German singles chart this week. The track has so far peaked at No.38 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Black Eyed Peas is just behind Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3x” which bows at No.8. In a busy week, last week’s newcomer Lena drops 2-7 with “Taken by a Stranger.” Bruno Mars still remains at No.1 with “Grenade,” followed by Adele and Taio Cruz/Kylie Minogue.
