Frans bows on the UK singles chart

Frans If I Were Sorry

Congratulations to Frans who bows on the UK singles chart this week at No.47 with ‘If I Were Sorry.’ The Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entry is the second highest [ESC] entry this year only beaten by the UK’s own Joe & Jake. The duo’s ‘You’re Not Alone’ bows at No.40. Produced by Matt Schwartz, who has previously worked on material with Kylie Minogue (‘Timebomb’) and Cheryl (‘Only Human’).

Last year’s winner Måns Zelmerlöw managed to place ‘Heroes’ just outside the UK top ten (it peaked at No.11). Previous winner Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ made it all the way to No.3 back in 2012. Jamala’s ‘1944’ didn’t make the chart at all, neither did Nicky Byrne (‘Sunlight’ has reached No.68 in Ireland).

The third entry from the ESC comes in the shape of Dami Im, whose ‘The Sound of Silence’ bows at No.81. We will definitely be on the lookout for the Swedish singles tally which will bow on Friday.

Spotify streaming figures

As you probably know by now, I’m paying close attention to the Spotify streaming figures. As Eurovision slowly drifts away, there’s a slight drop in entries across the territories. On the Spotify global tally Frans drops 64-75 with ‘If I Were Sorry,’ moving 4-9 in Sweden.

Dami Im falls back 140-162 with ‘The Sound of Silence.’ She drops on all tallies, but in native Australia where she rebounds to reach a new peak of No.60. Even in Sweden, Dami Im seems to have struck a bit of unluck a as the track falls out of the top ten landing just outside a No.11.

In native France, Amir falls 30-34 with ‘J’ai cherché.’ In line with Dami Im’s success, Amir has greater success in Sweden where his entry reached No.27 on Sunday. It, however, fell to No.38 on the chart dated May 16th. The highest peak is Lithuania, which placed Amir at No.15 two days ago.

Sergey Lazarev also moves in the wrong direction on most tallies. ‘You Are the One’ reached No.17 in Sweden on Sunday, falling back to No.23 yesterday.

The only one to truly (still) benefit from the Eurovision Song Contest is the guest act Justin Timberlake who storms the pole positions in both the UK and the US. The Trolls soundtrack cut moves 6-4 on the Spotify global tally, beaten by Drake, Calvin Harris and Desiigner.
