Eric Saade’s “Popular” did not only win the hearts of the jury, he also won the hearts of the Swedish people – twice. We’ve already covered that Eric Saade ousted all competition and vaulted into the top spot of the Swedish singles tally. As the night draws to an end, it’s clear that he was also the favorite when the Swedish viewers cast their votes in the all important Melodifestivalen final.

Media sparked a rivalry between Danny Saucedo and Eric Saade, which was quickly was resolved as the two teenage heartthrobs made out during a photo shoot earlier this week. Despite the two of them denying that they would be fighting over the victory, nevertheless their both No.1 and No.2 in terms of viewers popularity and singles sales.
Born in 1990, Eric Saade grew up in Kattarp outside Helsingborg in southern Sweden. His father is Lebanese and his mother Swedish. Saade got his breakthrough as the Swedish voice of Shane in the Disney series Camp Rock, shown on Disney Channel.

Last year, Eric Saade came third in the Melodifestivalen final with “Manboy,” which was a No.1 hit on the singles chart. He issued the debut album Masquerade last May, which managed to reach No.2 on the album chart. A sophomore album is slated for release later this summer and it will include the two singles “Still Loving It” and the Melodifestivalen winner “Popular.” WelcheMusic will definitely keep close track of the countdown up until the Duesseldorf final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
