Toni Braxton Becomes a Reality Star


CHART REFLECTION. As John John Said It reports, soul and r’n’b singer Toni Braxton has launched her own reality TV show. Aired on WE tv, a sister-channel of AMC (of Mad Men fame) Braxton Family Values follows the lives of Toni Braxton and her sisters.

According to Toni Braxton, the show “had the #1 reality show ratings in history.” The singer was on reached a career best two decades ago. She has won no less than six Grammy Awards, selling an estimated 40 million records worldwide.

She debuted in 1993 with her eponymous album, which included her first US top ten hits  “Another Sad Love Song” (No.7), “Breathe Again” (No.3) and “You Mean the World to Me” (No.7,

Her biggest album was the 1993 album Secrets which spawned the two No.1 hits “You’re Makin’ Me High” and “Un-Break My Heart.”

In 1998, Toni Braxton declared bankruptcy. She survived that and recorded more albums and also appeared in two Broadway productions.

WE tv’s SVP, Original Production and Development, John Miller released a statement saying:

“We’d like viewers to feel that we tv and Braxton Family Values is relatable to them because they share similar experiences within their own families. Braxton Family Values looks at the relationship between five sisters who, no matter what, all love and support one another. This show is about the real connection these women share, which is a rare quality in many of the reality shows on T.V. today.”

Currently releasing material, Toni Braxton’s latest single “Hands Tied” was issued only this February. So far it has charted on the US Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, peaking at No.29.
