Love bombing Solange’s Losing You

Time to love bomb a track that has not quite received the appreciation it deserves. Released in early October, Solange’s ‘Losing You’ is like the little sister of Madonna’s ‘Borderline.’ Written by Dev Hynes and Solange Knowles and produced by Blood Orange and Kevin Barnes, the track is lifted off the EP ‘True.’ Although it was released in the US as a digital download, it is yet to appear on any charts there. It has so far only peaked on the UK Independent Chart (at No.22).

WelcheMusic.com has kept better track of big sister Beyoncé Knowles. A music video was shot by Melina Matsoukas in the township of Langa in Cape Town, South Africa this September.

Solange is yet to chart in Sweden.

Flo Rida’s I Cry Lyrics Honors Victims in Norway

CHART SPOTLIGHT. US rapper Flo Rida earns his third consecutive No.1 hit in Norway as ‘I Cry’ ascends to the top in its second week. There’s no coincidence that Norwegians were quick to embrace the song which is based on Bingo Player’s 2011 track ‘Cry (Just a Little),’ which is in its turn built on Brenda Russell’s 1988 hit ‘Piano in the Dark.’

A part of Flo Rida’s rap is dedicated to the Utøya victims:

Norway, no you didn’t get my flowers
No way to sound better but the killer was a coward
Face just showers, the minute in a hour
Heard about the news all day went sour

According to the Norwegian media outlets VG and På Nå, Flo Rida had wanted to come to Olso this July. I Cry’ bows at No.21 on the Swedish digital download chart, expect it to rise in the coming weeks. The track is also this week’s smash at the hit radio station NRJ.

‘Whistle’ Remains a Hit

His former hit ‘Whistle’ remains a hit in Sweden, according to SvD it currently sits at No.5. The track also remains within the top ten in Norway. Flo Rida also gets support from the our national female soccer team, who currently works out to a list including Chris Brown’s ‘Don’t Wake Me Up,’ Mohombi’s ‘Love to Party’ and ‘I Cry’ according to news paper Aftonbladet’s sports edition.

I’ve previously covered Flo Rida on WelcheMusic, back in January ‘Wild Ones’ was the comeback single with Sia and last February ‘Turn Around’ made a belated entry on the Swedish singles chart.

The Voice Brought Train’s Drops of Jupiter Back to the Charts

Remember Train’s ‘Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)’ from February 2001? Time flies, and the song popped up when I tuned in to the Spotify ‘90s radio station. With its classical hook and quite catchy lyrics, it’s definitely one of those tracks that will stick on Adult Top 40 stations.

This spring, ‘Drops of Jupiter’ returned to the UK singles chart as it was featured on The Voice in a performance from Phil Poole. It eventually peaked at No.34 in the second round.

This fall, I will not only look forward to hot new release but also glance back on the catalogue of hits at WelcheMusic.com. The American rock band peaked at No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the track, also peaking at No.10 in the UK.

‘Drops of Jupiter’ was written by the group, and inspired from a dream that singer Patrick Monahan had. Also worth mentioning, is that there are two music videos available. Here’s one of them.

Train – Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)

This April, Train issued their sixth album “California 37.” Featuring the three singles ‘Drive By,’ ’50 Ways to Say Goodbye,’ and ‘Bruises.’

In Sweden, the group has charted with ‘Drive By’ (No.29), ‘Drops of Jupiter (No.45) and ‘Hey Soul Sister’ (No.3).

Just realized, kinda odd that it was on the Spotify ’90s selection when it was from early ’00s. Well, classic anyways!

Sam and the Womp’s Bom Bom Blends Ska & Balkan Music

I’ve discovered the great new track ’Bom Bom,’ which debuted atop UK singles track last week. The British group Sam and the Womp consists of eight members. They blend ska, Jamaican and Balkan music with electronic and dance. Simply creating the biggest novelty hit this side of summer. Check out the infographics below to see how interest for the band has surged throughout the summer.

The single sold 107,461 copies in the first week according to Music Week. An upcoming studio album is expected next year.

Unfortunately, it seems as if Little Mix will knock Sam and the Womp off the top spot with ‘Wings.’ Little Mix own X Factor 2011 in the UK and have already had a chart topper with ‘Cannonball.’
