Five Songs to Boost Your Workout Routine

Each month 40,000 folks submit their favorite workout songs and vote on the submissions of others. Once a month, our friends at The Run Hundred blog tally up the votes and post a list of the top 10. These are the top songs for June 2013.

Selena Gomez – Slow Down (128 BPM)

‘Slow Down’ is the second single off the upcoming studio album Stars Dance which is slated for release on July 23. It succeeds ‘Come & Get It,’ the platinum single written by the Stargate team and Ester Dean. The latter track was actually meant for Rihanna but she turned it down.

Wiz Khalifa – We Own It ft. 2 Chainz (Fast & Furious) (86 BPM)

Taken off the Fast & Furious 6 Soundtrack, rapper 2 Chainz has scored his biggest hit to date. Collaborating with rapper/singer-songwriter Wiz Khalifa ‘We Own It’ appears in the opening and end credits of the movie. It has so far peaked at No.6 in the UK, haven only debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No.61. Its highest chart position to date is a No.5 position in Germany.

Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop (Audio) (80 BPM)

I covered Miley Cyrus’ latest single in a recent blog post, and expect this song to be played and heard just about everywhere.

Krewella – Alive (Cash Cash x Kalkutta Remix) (129 BPM)

The Chicago-based electronic dance music group Krewella was formed back in 2007. Jahan Yousaf, Yasmine Yousaf and Rain Man form the trio and they debuted in June 2012 with the EP Play Hard. ‘Alive’ was introduced to radio back in Jnanuary 2013 and was the second single off the above EP. This Cash Cash x Kalkutta Remix is one of three tracks on the single. It peaked at No.32 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

Anna Kendrick – Cups (Pop Version) (131 BPM)

‘Cups’ is featured in the movie Pitch Perfect and was originally recorded by Lulu and the Lampshades dubbed as ‘Cups (You’re Gonna Miss Me.’ That song was also a rendition, based on a 1937 old-time folk song called ‘Miss When I’m Gone.’ In the movie, the song is performed using a yellow plastic cup on the stage floor. That version was obviously not the choice for a fitness session, but the Pop version with full additional instrumentation. The track reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 30, on the heels of Pitch Perfect success.

WelcheMusic VS – Original vs. Cover

CHART PLAYLIST. You can judge a book by its cover. But it turns out to be quite hard to distinguish if some of the hits we love (or hate) really are originals? WelcheMusic compiled a set of tracks where we let the original go head-to-head with the cover version. Did you know that “Bette Davis Eyes” originally was a hit for Jackie DeShannon? Or that Tiffany’sI Think We’re Alone Now” was a hit for Tommy James & The Shondells?
