Eminem’s No.2 Hit Biggest-Selling Single of 2010

A UK No.2 hit is the biggest selling single of 2010 – so far. Eminem’s duet with Rihanna only made it to the runner-up spot and falls to No.11 in its 15th week. Trailing Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup’s “We No Speak Americano” this summer, the rapper never managed to reach the top. But in the long run, “Love the Way You Lie” has grown to become the biggest selling hit of the year.

Katie Still Gives Katy Perry a Run for Her Money

WelcheMusic might just have stumbled upon the next Katy Perry. Californian Katie Still collaborates with producers Roy “Royalty” Hamilton (of Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears fame) and Brody Brown. Our favorites are “Get Over It” and “You Should Be Dancing,” available on the music site Hitlantis. Hopefully her presence there might just lead to a record deal.

Eminem Remains at No.1 in Sweden

Eminem’s duet with Rihanna remains atop the Swedish singles chart this week. ”Love the Way You Lie” logs a tenth week on the tally, but is trailed by Oskar Linnros’ ”Från och med du” which moves 6-3. The Manchester group Hurts, bows at No.40 with ”Wonderful Life,” one of three new entries on the chart. Darin’s LoveKiller finally climbs to the No.1 position on the album chart, knocking Iron Maiden off the top. Katy Perry returns to the album chart with Teenage Dream at No.21, the title track moves 41-39 on the singles chart.

Max Martin and RedOne Rule Billboard Hot 100

WelcheMusic regularly covers Swedish songwriters’ success Stateside and today our national newspaper Expressen notes that five songs in the top 10 involves either Max Martin or RedOne. Neither one of them enjoys their first glimpse of success, but this is one of few weeks where their dominance is so great.

Expressen’s music editor Anders Nunstedt compares this phenomenon to five out of the top ten Hollywood’s box office hits being Swedish, a most unlikely event. WelcheMusic reveals that although Americans embrace the hits below, Swedes are more reluctant. Only one of the tracks has actually made it to the top ten – Katy Perry’s collaboration with Snoop Dogg (“California Gurls”). Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” is on its way to break the top 20, and the track vaulted into No.1 in the UK only a few days ago.
