Jedward UK Hit Thanks to Eurovision Results


CHART SPOTLIGHT. The Irish duo Jedward makes a welcome return to the UK singles chart today as “Lipstick” re-enters No.40, easily besting the original No.82 peak. The twins finished 8th at last week’s Eurovision Song Contest final.  The single also bows at No.18 in Sweden, just behind Eric Saade whose “Popular” surges 34-17 on the back of the Eurovision results.

The duo finished sixth in The X Factor back in 2009 and the debut hit “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)” peaked at No.2 in the UK. The song merged the two Queen and Vanilla Ice hits together.

Inna to Conquer the UK with Hot Album

CHART SPOTLIGHT. Do you remember the pop chanteuse Inna? WelcheMusic covered this Romanian dancefloor diva last February! The 24-year old singer got a lot of attention for her debut single “Hot” which was initially released in 2008. Née Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu, the singer grew up in one of the small costal resorts on the Black sea called Neptun. Look out for the debut album Hot which finally get its UK release via 3 Beat Records on June 13th 2011.

I AM THE CLUB ROCKER

In other territories, the sophomore set  I Am the Club Rocker will be released this July and include the two singles “Sun Is Up” and “Club Rocker.” A digital track called “Un Momento” was issued last year. I Am the Club Rocker is produced by Play & Win, who also produced her first set.

Inna has toured Germany, Spain, Turkey and Romania to support the album. According to Hangout Altsounds, “Inna has racked up an amazing 150 million+ views on You Tube, 2.1 million Facebook friends, over 1 million records sold (including 350,000+ downloads in the UK), 21 music awards, and a US Billboard chart no. 1 to her name.”

In Sweden, “Hot” spent 20 weeks on the chart in 2010 finally peaking at No.14. “Sun Is Up” spent one week at No.58.

Countdown to Colbie Caillat’s All of You

Colbie Caillat’s “I Do” has already charted. 

CHART SPOTLIGHT. This July sees the release of the new Colbie Caillat set All of You. The 25-year old singer songwriter hails from Malibu, California and got her breakthrough hit with “Bubbly” in 2007. It’s her biggest hit to date and the only track to reach the US top ten.

Grammy Duet with Jason Mraz

WelcheMusic has already covered the duet with Jason Mraz. Issued in 2009, “Lucky” received a Grammy nominee. It was included on Mraz’ set We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. Commercially, the track peaked at No.48 on the Hot 100.

Lead Single “I Do” Already Chart Hit

Already, lead single “I Do” has charted.  An upbeat folk pop song, the track has peaked at No.23 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track was produced by Greg Wells (of Mika, Katy Perry and OneRepublic fame). Expect it to be followed by “Brighter than the Sun.” Two of the tracks on All of You was penned by pop songwriter Ryan Tedder. He’s the front man of OneRepublic and his writing credits includes “Bleeding Love” for Leona Lewis and “Halo” for Beyoncé. In addition, the album track “What If” was originally featured in the movie Letters to Juliet, featuring Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Redgrave.

You can pre-order All of You at Amazon. The set contains 14 songs and was initially slated for release early May. Last year, Colbie Caillat performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo in honor of winner Liu Xiaobo.

Danny and Freja Take the Dubstep Road

CHART SPOTLIGHT. We’re keeping a close eye on Danny & Freja’s upcoming UK launch. The re-launched “If Only You” got the remix treatment from Dave Silcox in a seductive dubstep remix. Posted on their Facebook page, this version is one of many remixes to support the UK release of the track.
